- Go off the beaten track with a guided tour of small-town Sicily
- Discover the art of hand-making pasta with a cooking demonstration
- Enjoy a home-cooked meal and drinks with a local family
The Forgotten Sicily excursion is designed to show you a side to Sicily that tourists don’t usually see. Leaving the cities behind, you’ll head to the hills around stunning Taormina to explore small-town Sicily, with a local guide helping you to unearth the small communities and fascinating Norman ruins half-hidden in the spectacular Agro Valley.
Next, you’ll experience authentic Sicilian cuisine – a true local passion – at U Lantimaru (literally, ‘the lantern maker’). Here, a Sicilian family will welcome you warmly into their home, and you’ll be shown the art of hand-making pasta, as well as Sicilian staples like arancini and panelle.
Finally, Ms. Eleanora will prepare a home-cooked meal that’s as authentic as they come, sharing her culinary secrets and snippets about life in small-town Sicily over drinks and traditional Sicilian folk music – even dancing, if you’re inclined!
We say: “Dinner with Ms. Eleonora and family was the nicest meal I had during my whole visit. They made us feel incredibly welcome. Any questions you might have about the food, make sure you ask as she loves telling her visitors!” Anna Vickers, Content Editor
