About the location
Rome – the Eternal City – is often said to be the world’s greatest open-air museum, boasting hundreds of historic sights around every corner and in every square. There’s so much to see and do that you’d need a month to take it all in, but a week or less is enough to give you a taste of Italy’s incredible capital.
With more than 3,000 years under its belt, Rome has long been one of the world’s leading centres of culture. There are masterpieces like the Sistine Chapel, numerous wine-fuelled feasts to partake in, and a raft of iconic sights, including the world’s largest amphitheatre – the Colosseum.
Best of all, the majority of Rome’s attractions are within walking distance of each other, so you’ll be able to soak up the Roman way of life as you walk to the Pantheon or Trevi Fountain. Maybe you’ll discover a hidden church with beautiful frescoes or a secret trattoria serving excellent wine from the Lazio hills. (See our small-group food tour.) That’s when the phrase ‘when in Rome’ really comes in handy...

I was given the last room with construction taking place right infront of it. I did not sleep at all throughout the night due to noises!

The Hotel Savoy stay was perfect! My wife and I recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversry traveling to Italy and Greece. The Savoy hotel is located within walking distance of many of the historic sites. The staff are very warm and friendly. They were so kind in placing a bottle of champagne in our room upon our arrival! The room was good size and very quiet. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Staff were polite and professional and the hotel was clean.
The room we had was 601 very small window high up with shutters. The room felt airless and without light. The bathroom was clean but shower door was a bad fit so bath mat and floor got soaked every time you had a shower.
Another drawer back was that it was next to the roof top bar which didn’t disturb us when it was in use but certainly woke us up at 8am when staff were bottling up in the bar backing onto our bed.
The breakfast area was nice but on the basement level so again no windows. The range of food was quite good but limited hot options if that’s your preferred choice. Food was average.
