Set on the western shore of Lake Garda, Gargnano is made up of 13 hamlets. Over the years it has been favoured by the rich and famous, and today this can be seen in the fine villas, palaces and beautiful gardens. One of the best is Villa Bettoni. Built in the early 1700s, it's picture-perfect, with magnificent statues and frescoes alongside exquisite views.
The old town of Gargnano on the lake shore has a main square, which is dominated by the elegant 16th-century Old Town Hall, and a pretty little port. Attracting fewer crowds than its neighbouring towns, Gargnano offers a peaceful atmosphere and is the perfect ‘get away from it all’ retreat. The lakeside hamlets and the small hillside towns offer a mix of landscapes, from typically Mediterranean with olive and lemon groves, to mountainous areas and unspoilt woodland.
