Spend a full day exploring the ancient town of Herculaneum as well as the beautiful coastal town of Sorrento. You’ll begin at Herculaneum, less well known than its neighbour (Pompeii), this Roman summer resort is incredibly well preserved. Wander around the ruins of Roman baths and villas, visualise life before the mighty volcanic eruption and learn the horror the Pompeians faced on the 24th August 79AD.
Perched on the hillside, Sorrento is a coastal town with magnificent views of the Bay of Naples. Amble Sorrento’s town centre and admire the main sites, including San Cesareo and the Chloister of St Francesco, on a guided tour. Later in the afternoon, enjoy free time to roam the authentic souvenir shops selling intricate lacework and traditional Italian leather sandals.
