About the location
Conca dei Marini is a tiny fishing village commune with just a handful of amenities, yet there is a quaint rural charm here that can’t be found in many other places along the Amalfi Coast. Relatively untouched by tourism, Conca dei Marini is perhaps best known for being the home of the hidden Grotto dello Smeraldo – a remarkable karst cave that rivals the Blue Grotto found in nearby Capri. Journey inside and the cave will divulge its secret feature – an inner chamber where visitors can witness a dazzling reflection of bright emerald light as the sunlight is dramatically refracted. Elsewhere in this cliffside village you can find a smattering of authentic restaurants, often with mesmerising sea views, as well as a sleepy marina that perfectly encapsulates the charm of the Italian coastline. Better still, Conca dei Marini is just a short drive from Amalfi and Furore, making it easy to explore these stunning towns during your getaway.

A lovely hotel with stunning views.
The drive from Naples airport to Amalfi is not for the faint hearted as once off the motorway the roads are very narrow with lots and I mean lots of hairpin bends. Would suggest you hire the smallest car you can that will accommodate luggage and passengers or get a taxi. But once you arrive the white knuckle drive is worth it. The views are stunning and the hotel retains an old world charm with many repeat guests. The rooms are clean and comfortable, plenty of choice at breakfast, snacks available round the pool and a different menu every evening in the restaurant.
As the hotel is perched on a cliff there are a lot of steps but there is a lift down to the pool. The hotel operates a shuttle bus to the town where you can pick up buses and ferries to other places along the coast and Capri.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return but probably by taxi next time!

This was our eleventh visit to this fabulous hotel.
Ok so maybe some people think it dated, we think it has amazing charm and character.
Every single member of staff deserves a mention, they are all superb. To mention a few, Gaetano and Lucia on reception ( enjoy your retirement Gaetano) Wonderful, ever charming Giuseppe (I could listen to his voice all night!) and his attentive waiting staff. The super efficient young barman (who has stepped straight into Bonaventura’s shoes ) always smiling and attentive. The fabulous domestic staff, mini bus driver and the pool guys.
The rooms are spotless, linens changed frequently.
The whole hotel is sparkling clean.
The view - wow it is amazing. Breakfast on the terrace was bliss, sun, the beautiful coastline. In the evening the view of the lights along the coast to Amalfi is truly stunning and the frequent firework displays are a bonus.
I mustn't forget the chef who manages to produce absolute gastronomic delights each evening.
Very surprised at comments about the sunbeds. There has never been a day when we have not had a choice of free sunbeds and have never seen beds being 'reserved'.
I could go on but suffice to say this is a wonderful hotel with staff who all go out of their way to the ensure you have the best holiday possible. For my friend and I it is the number one hotel!
Can't wait to go back.
Love to you all from Sue & Lindsay - see you next September, save room 228!!

If you’re looking for a quant hotel not in the hustle and bustle of the town of Amalfi which is very crowded Hotel Belvedere is the place to be. Every room has a sea view. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. You will fall in love with the wait staff. The hotel is older but newly renovated. The price of a room is very reasonable compared to resorts closer the the town. It sits only a 10 min drive from the town of Amalfi. A little warning taxi and car service is expensive that 10 min ride will run you about 60-70 euro each way. Still worth the stay.

A charming and relaxed hotel with only sea-facing rooms and a layout that means it never feels too busy. The pool is a good length (20m I think?) which was a big plus for us. The hotel is a little way out of the town but this helps with the relaxed atmosphere and the hotel offers a cheap bookable shuttle service to help get around (and many restaurants and organised excursions will pick up from the jetty via boat or hotel entrance via road). There's also a public beach / cove down a walking path next to the hotel and several restaurants/cafés in walking distance up some beautiful, meandering walking paths if you don't mind some steep hills.
The staff were generally friendly and accommodating. The restaurant and café food were good quality and a fair price – the half board option probably saved us a small fortune as restaurants can be pricey in the area, the meals were varied enough that it didn't get boring and they made a good effort to accommodate my vegetarian partner. The restaurant and breakfast veranda have spectacular views and the tables are oriented to give the maximum amount of people the best seat so that was nice.
A real standout feature and unexpected gem of the hotel is the Chief Bartender and mixologist Tomasso whose kind, attentive and friendly demeanor, unwavering professionalism and impeccable taste are the lifeblood of the Hotel Belvedere bar. Not only does he make a great drink, including several classy and tasteful cocktails of his own (definitely try the barman's cocktails) but also spot on local knowledge, advice & recommendations and stellar company especially when my partner was sleeping off some travel related illness a turning couple of would-be wasted evenings into memorable nights. Thanks again Tomasso, you're a scholar and a gentleman. Hotel Belvedere management if you're reading I hope you realise how much of an asset this man is.
As some other reviews have stated the hotel is dated in some ways but for the most part did the job and hit the mark in all ways that really counted. The bed was comfy and the shower worked well (both very important), the air con and mini fridge in the room could use a refresh but worked well enough so wasn't an issue. Everything feels pristinely clean and the cleaning staff work diligently to keep it that way. That just leaves decor which might be part of the charm for some or the basis for criticism for others but it was clean, cool, comfortable and functional and that's what mattered most for us. All in all a good hotel experience and we would stay here again.
