About the location
Maiori is perhaps best known for owning the Amalfi Coast’s longest stretch of unbroken sandy beachfront. There’s much more to this seafront town than just a beach, though – you'll also find ancient architecture, lovely local restaurants and a laid-back atmosphere that draws visitors back time and time again.
The town was founded during the Roman Empire, when the fashion was for the aristocracy to have a villa by the coast. Today, you can still see some of these grand properties, with the Castello di Torro Plano being the most popular. This romantic castellated ruin is a considerable climb into the mountains behind Maiori, but is well worth a visit for the spectacular views. If you want to explore more of the Amalfi Coast, there is easy access by road to Amalfi, Positano and neighbouring Minori. You can also catch a ferry over to the glamorous island of Capri.

First of all this beautiful hotel is only one of few hotels that allowed you to join their pool without staying at the hotel .
We enjoyed our day to the maximum with breathtaking views.
Will also recommend to have a lunch in their restaurant. It was delicious. Food is fresh and traditional.Compliments to the chef! You will really get what you pay for. The service especially our waiters Ilenia and Maurizio were very attentive & friendly.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Very close to the beach and the Main Street. Regarding the room, it is surprisingly comfortable and immaculate. The restaurant of the hotel is really nice and it has the amazing view of the coast.
This five star boutique hotel is perfect for a careless and relaxing week end enjoying outstanding views.
I strongly recommend the hotel for anybody looking for a pleasure trip.

We visited Hotel Botanico San Lazzaro a few times during our vacation in Amalfi Coast. Their terrace was perfect for enjoying aperitives in the beutiful sunset. On another day we enjoyed lunch at the hotel and after that visited their wonderful pool area. Everything we ate there was super delicious and I even had the best rose wine I???ve ever had. Can only recommend this place! Super friendly staff and great food not to forget the gorgeous surroundings!

We selected Hotel Botanico San Lazzaro based on ratings. It was the last place we stayed in Italy and decided to splurge (495 euro/nt) at the end of our trip. Our experience was different than many reviewers - we were in room 305 with no view and a bathroom that had issues. We sent the letter below on September 23 and then followed up with the hotel to confirm receipt but have never received a response.
Dear Mr Andrea Cimini
We just returned from a 2 week holiday in Italy. Our stay in the Amalfi coast was the end of our trip and we wanted the best experience and selected your hotel because of its high rating. We reserved a room for Monday Sept 9 through Thursday Sept 12, at your hotel. We planned our trip in advance and made our reservation far in advance on May 18.
We were so excited to stay at your hotel. Like most travelers going to your hotel it was a journey - a train, a ferry, then a walk to the hotel. When we arrived we were greeted and told we would be taken to our room after a welcome drink on the patio. We finished our welcome drink and waited 45-60 minutes on the patio before we were shown to our room. After our long journey and sitting in the heat on the patio, this did not start our visit very well.
Our room was number 305 and it was very disappointing. We had no view and the room was small with a strange smell. We were tired and had not eaten and it was now 16:00, so we went to find food in town instead of asking for another room. After already waiting an hour for this room, we did not know if the staff would make us wait another hour if we requested a new room.
When we returned that night we took a shower. The shower had furry black mold growing on the walls and floor and when we took a shower, the mold flaked off in big chunks and we could see it go down the drain. The next day we did not want to use the shower again and we were both so disappointed we decided we would leave as soon as we could find another place.
We do not usually complain about issues but we cannot understand why we were given this small room with no view for 495 euro's per night? We also cannot understand why a hotel of your quality would have a room with water damage on the ceiling and a shower with mold. When we checked out we were offered a better room but at this point it was too late - why weren't we put in the better room when we arrived? We stayed in many hotels during our 2 weeks, your hotel would be at the bottom of our list for comfort and the top of our list for price.
We request:
1) charge us a reasonable rate for the two nights we stayed in this room (it was not worth 495 euros per night - it was not your "superior" room and hopefully not your "standard" room either)
2) refund our last night in full when we did not stay at your hotel.
