Watersport

With 1,120 miles of white sandy beaches and some of the clearest waters in the Mediterranean, Sardinia is a haven for watersports enthusiasts. From sailing to kite surfing and paddle boarding to kayaking, the varied conditions lend themselves perfectly with sheltered coves and shallow waters for beginners, to the winds that sweep across the north east of the island, ideal for pro surfers.

As an island blessed with secluded coves and hidden inlets, some of the best stretches of coastline are only accessible by boat. This means sailing is a popular pastime, particularly in the Costa Smeralda and Porto Cervo. Other resorts include Geremes, three kilometers east of Cagliari and boasting two long sandy beaches, where the clear waters are perfect for scuba diving. Campulongu, easily reached from Villasimius and home to many different species of fish is great for snorkelling, while Poetto beach just outside of Cagliari is one of Italy's longest and is frequented by windsurfers. Whichever sport takes your fancy, Sardinia is the ideal destination to develop or perfect a passion for the water.
