Chia Laguna - Baia di Chia, Curio Collection by Hilton

The resort is in one of the most beautiful bays in Sardegna, with close access to a fantastic private beach with plenty of space between the ombrelloni and a handy beachside bar. The beach team are very friendly and helpful. Our room was definitely one with a (sea)view. It was very comfortable and the housekeeping team kept it immaculate. We had a terrace and even a little garden to enjoy a sunset drink. I'm celiac and my partner's vegan. I feel the restaurant could have been more attentive to these needs/preferences. For example, the waiters brought me hummus with bread or simply bread (both risky). On a much more positive note, the morning omelette chef went to a lot of trouble to prepare these with no risk of cross-contamination; I appreciated this. The kitchen did have vegan croissants and crostate but they were out of sight and customers had to request them. I feel it would be easy to display some of these in the morning buffet and mention that they're vegan on the little description cards. I also think it would be easy to offer at least one vegan option as a starter, primo and main. The restaurant Sa Mesa offers this on the other side of the road. Having said that, the chef did try hard to come up with vegan alternatives. A special mention to the navette team who are super helpful and friendly. Apart form the (easily solved) food issues, we had a fantastic break in a part of Italy we've grown to love. Grazie a tutti.

Overall we had a good stay at the Baia di Chia, however if you are travelling by car you will notice that unfortunately there is no signage for the Baia on the main road but the Conrad is fully lit up and gated, the Baia???s road is a dirt road, through a car park with lots of potholes so not the best first impression. Reception - very friendly and quick check in. A cart is there waiting to take you to the room (which is needed as they are all located in the hills) Rooms - spacious, modern and nicely decorated. Some areas just need a fresh lick of paint. We had a lagoon view, although sadly due to the drought the lagoon had dried up from our view but nothing they can do about that - you do get to see flamingos! Beach - simply stunning. One major catch - depending on the level of room you have depends on which row of sunbeds you get, which was disappointing as at points the first two rows had empty beds which we couldn???t use due to our room type. Basically operating class system for sunbeds. Half Board - there is only one restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The food is very good, and the staff are friendly and lovely. However we were told other restaurants at the Conrad were included in the HB package. (Not true, you get ???25pp towards the meals). The evening menu can be repetitive so would recommend a car to head into Pula for food for a change. A good buffet selection for breakfast. Would say the hotel is closer to 4* than 5* which is a shame as the staff are lovely and the views/location are amazing.

Location: the hotel is in a remote location which is why it is so charming. There are no towns near to venture for a dinner so expect to eat on the property. There is a hotel across the street (the Conrad) which has families with children. We ate dinner there the first night and it was much busier and filled with families. The guests really dress for dinner and are quite an upscale demographic. We did not stay for entertainment but we heard it was very good. The previous reviews speaking to the walkability of the resort are spot on. The rooms are situated on hills and some are more steep than others. We found the shuttle service to be quite efficient and we used it regularly. The only downside I hope they address are the stairs to the beach. Uneven and rustic with rope for railing. Quite steep as well but the beach is just incredible. There is no cafe on beach except for a private vendor in a hut which only takes cash and is not associated with the hotel. The rooms: They are beautiful and newer. Definitely get the upgrade for ocean view and outdoor seating it was very beautiful. The white flamingos are right there to view as well. The food was very good both for breakfast and dinner. Shout out to Luca who was in shuttle service. Very nice and accommodating young man. Overall a strong 4/5 star resort.
