How long have you worked for Citalia?

Ten years.

How many times have you visited Italy?

So many, I have now lost count! I was lucky enough to be born in Italy. I was raised in the best (I’m a little biased) region, Sardinia, and I enjoyed travelling around with my parents before then going on to explore on my own.

Which are your favourite destinations?

Sardinia (right), because of the contrasting landscapes, in particular the amazing blue seas and the wild countryside. The island has a fascinating history, too.

Venice lives up to its reputation for being one of the most romantic cities in the world. It is strewn with lagoons, bridges and cobbled alleys – it’s utterly enchanting. I also love Liguria and Umbria.

These two regions have so far managed to fly under the radar from flocks of tourists and remained beautifully unspoiled. There is so much to see and discover there.

What do you love about the country?

Everything! Seriously, there isn’t much about Italy I don’t love. Being Italian I’ve been influenced since my early years by the country’s art and history, and great music. The cuisine doesn’t get much better than Italian, and as a huge coffee drinker, I love the coffee culture.

Describe your fondest memory of a trip to Italy.

On a multi-centre trip hopping between the Italian lakes, what I will always remember is that they were blessed with the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises. No matter where you are around the lakes, they are unmissable.

And your favourite Italian dish?

It’s hard to pick a favourite! I love sebadas, Sardinian fritters with melted cheese and honey. I like to enjoy fritto misto when I am in Sicily, which is a selection of fried foods from vegetables to fish and meat. Bistecca Fiorentina is Florence’s T-bone steak dish and it’s definitely a must-try.

Do you have any travel tips for visitors?

Make sure you enjoy all of Italy’s treasured traditions. For breakfast, tuck into a cornetto and cappuccino, and after a day sightseeing, take a well-earned stop for an aperitivo in one of the many piazzas – perfect for people-watching.
