Sandwiched between the popular beach resorts of Eraclea and Bibione, Caorle is a little gem on the famous Venetian Riviera. It’s home to a well-equipped Blue Flag beach that flanks a lovely centro storico, with a clutch of historic sites worth a sightseeing trip between visits to the beach. The old town is filled with colourful houses and narrow alleyways, crowned by an 11th-century Romanesque cathedral. Take a wander along the seafront to see Caorle’s other landmark – the Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Angel, built on a promontory with some of the best sea views around. If you’re visiting Caorle with kids, there’s a fantastic waterfront on your doorstop; Aquafollie offers a kids’ lagoon and area, plus waterslides and games. The modern yachting marina provides boat trips around the lagoons and islands, while numerous cycling paths wind up to Bibione for exploring on two wheels.
