About the location
Holidays in Verona take you to a city steeped in culture. Galleries, opera and Romanesque and Gothic architecture make this the perfect destination for art and history buffs. Situated between
Milan and
Venice, the city has UNESCO World Heritage status thanks to its architecture and history as a military stronghold.
Verona was a centre for artists in the Renaissance era, and you can see a collection of paintings and sculptures in the Museo di Castelvecchio. The city is renowned for its Romanesque 11th and 12th Century churches, and their displays of valuable artworks. There are also landmarks dating back to Verona's days as a Roman colony, including the amphitheatre, which was built in the 1st Century. Romantics will delight in visiting the city of love, the setting for Romeo and Juliet. You can visit Casa di Giulietta, (Juliet’s house), and have your photo taken on the famous balcony.
Verona is also an excellent destination for an active holiday. Lake Garda is a stone's throw away, and there are plenty of walking opportunities, both around the lake and Il Vittoriale botanical gardens. I feel so passionately about the over the top service we received at Due Torri, I had to write this before we even landed back in LA. Myself and husband arrived January 7th for a medical
Treatment I was receiving in Verona. We travel often and I???ll admit I am a hotel snob. Verona is beautiful, old, worldly and quaint , just like the hotel. While I don???t have too much to say or not say about the actual hotel itself, the staff here was absolutely, positively the best I???ve ever experienced. We often stay at Four Seasons and this hotel staff even blew their service out of the water. It was apparent after a few days , u was there for medical purposes. I became ill, couldn???t walk too far , ate most meals in the lobby area. The staff went above and beyond. When I did feel fell, they made us reservations at a moments notice for a restaurant within walking distance for me , they called taxi cabs each morning for my transportation to the clinic. They remembered each day I drank coffee at breaskfast and my husband did not. The amount of friendless each of these people showed us was so impressive and so needed during such a difficult time for us. The ladies in the breaskfast room/ dinner area were so kind, always smiling, genuinely. The bar staff let me be , working when I needed on my laptop and always offering me help to carry something to my room or a cold water. The front desk staff, knew to expect us nightly about 7 to either eat in or out (close by and good food). They were all a charm! This was definitely one of the most trying weeks for my husband and I and this entire staff of the Due Torri made it manageable for us. We were so very impressed. If you are looking for a nice, comfortable stay, look no further.
