We were made to feel very welcome and the room was very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast selection was good and dinner in the hotel excellent. Would definitely return.

Well this is everything but a 5*L property! The piano nobile may be relatively grand but the rooms and service are no more than 3* B&B standards! I am a huge fan of 'hotel du charme' but this property is quite evidently corporately owned with no one in situ who actually understands hospitality, quality, service, reputation or cares about the condition of the property. Don't get me wrong, the staff are courteous enough but they have obviously been instructed never to go beyond the A-B instructions and are not permitted to move from their micro managed roles.
A couple of details that support this review (this is just a shortlist but I could go on and on):
-Arrival with private taxi from grand canal - no support with baggage, corridor leading to reception has live exposed wires and is missing wall sconces.
- Reception staff at a complete loss for local insight and info beyond resorting to a google search. Globe trotting 5* clientele know perfectly well how to do this for themselves and expect a property that advertises itself as 5*L at least to know the city
- Rooms shabby with numerous cracks in walls, mildew and humidity marks on walls
- Carpets throughout the property are permanently stained and need replacing
- Rooms on our floor were left open and un-made for 3 entire days during our stay. Basically you could roam the corridors and stick your head in every room on the floor and they were all used, dirty and unmade.
-Breakfast staff were nice but the selection in offering embarrassing! Industrial, cereals, tinned juices, and canned fruit! Again, seriously???? Not to mention, for two days there were no pastries available because the pastry shop didn't deliver! With hotels at 80% vacancy, what would it have taken for management to send out a member of staff to buy 10-15 brioche for guests! Plain laziness and inexcusable - goes back to my point about corporate ownership and not understanding the definition of hospitality.
Covid is NOT an excuse for bad service or badly managed properties! Suspect this property has sailed on the glory of Corporate Meetings held within the piano nobile space in the past rather than accommodation. Just scratch beneath the surface and you can see how badly managed this property is. Honestly so disappointed and would not recommend. Perhaps if property was marketed as a 3* then clients would no arrive here with false expectations.
We have stayed at 5* properties in Venice, Paris and London post Covid including The Lutetia, The Gritti, Danielli, Claridge's, The Connaught, Cafe Royal and others - none of these 5* properties have the shortcomings of Ca Sagredo which ranks itself as 5*L (notice the L)!!!! Head to the Aman, Gritti, Danieli or Cipriani if you want real 5* in Venice. This place is a farce!

We spent two nights here for a family celebration, as we were looking for a special place to mark the occasion. On arrival we were upgraded to a junior suite, which was a lovely room, with period furnishings, the most comfortable of beds and many nice touches. Nice bathroom. The main feature of the hotel is it's historic splendour, with richly decorated rooms and a grand staircase. On days with bad weather breakfast is served in a giant frescoed ballroom; on fine days on a lovely terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. Some modern features work less well, with the internet constantly lacking oomph.
The hotel does feel a little staid. The breakfast staff were very jolly, but there is a bit of an absence of fun. Making greater use of the bar area would help as would opening the roof terrace more often.
The location is perfect with the Rialto and St Marks only 10-15 minutes walk away. Many good dining options close by. To finish your visit, enjoy the water taxi direct to the airport. The cost is 120 euros, quite competitive for a family of 4 when compared to the pricey public transport, and it only takes 20 minutes.

We loved the hotel. Our room was perfect and the servicing of the room every day was exemplary. Breakfast was very good and was included in our rate which otherwise in Sept 2020 would be 30 Euros pp.. Attentive staff, lots of cheese, ham, fruit, pastries etc. all replenished and covered. Reception were helpful whenever we had a query and the location was perfect (just opposite the daily market). We would revisit this hotel and to be honest, I didn't want to leave.
