Riva del Garda is the northernmost town on Lake Garda and oozes Italian charm, with an historic old town full of winding passageways and a glamorous lakefront promenade.
The atmospheric central square – Piazza III Novembre – is the beating heart of the town, bustling with local boutiques and crowned by the 13th-century Torre Apponale, which offers breathtaking views of the lake from its 100-foot-high terrace. There’s plenty more to see and do, including visiting the fortified town museum and taking a stroll along the picturesque promenade. The town has a great laid-back vibe, and you’ll find many locals and visitors indulging in some downtime by enjoying gelato at the lake’s edge, or perusing some of the quaint shops dotted around the streets.
Thanks to the prime position at Lake Garda’s northern end, visitors can access several pretty towns nearby, including Torbole and Malcesine. The breezy waterside location also means that Riva del Garda is ideal for watersports, with windsurfing being a popular pastime here.
