Experience a stay like no other at the distinguished Borgo Pantano, a beautiful manor farm erected over 150 years ago and restored in 2009. The hotel is in the peaceful area of Cozzo Pantano, roughly 7km outside the inner city of Syracuse. The attention to detail exuding from the building reveals the passion and knowledge the owners have of the area, making it obvious the property is family run. The Borgo Pantano is split into two sections, with both sets of rooms encapsulating the bucolic charm of south east Sicily with its choice in minimalist design and locally sourced furniture, manufactured by Sicilian artisans. Guests can enjoy strolls through the verdant green gardens, whilst stopping to take a dip in the large swimming pool. Given the clear show of appreciation for Sicilian culture and heritage, it is no surprise that the hotel can organise a shuttle service to Syracuse centre; here you can gain a further understanding of the origins surrounding this diverse island by visiting some of the top attractions, like the Greek Theatre.
The hotel has 32 rooms (official rating 4 star). Minimum stay 3 nights during July and August.

We spent 7 nights at Borgo Pantano as part of a 2 week holiday travelling around Sicily. The reviews are true, it really is a 5* special place to stay - from the personal welcome and daily help booking lidos, restaurants or finding out information for us (grazie Manuela and Angelo) to such special personal service at breakfast and dinner, courtesy of the ever charming and incredibly hard working Francesco and Paola - we had such a relaxing stay.
We booked an exclusive suite with terrace which was perfect for travelling with a teenager as our son was able to have his own bedroom and bathroom downstairs while we had a lovely large room, huge bathroom and terrace on the first floor.
Evenings were spent talking to new friends we’d made round the pool, exchanging details of our daily adventures exploring this part of Sicily.
Dinner was lovely and special sitting outside in the garden with all the beautiful lights. It is a little pricey but it’s worth it for the quality of the food and service.
We also booked a day trip on a sailing boat that we’d sourced, and were lucky enough to have a large pod of dolphins swimming and playing by our boat for 20 mins - please do message me if you want the details for this boat trip.
We weren’t able to visit Mount Etna as the funivia was closed due to the continuing eruptions, but we shall return in the autumn or spring and make sure to visit Etna and Taormina!
Breakfast - oh my, I’ve never experienced anything as special in all my years of travelling, it is incredible and all homemade. Do not sleep in!
The owner, Giusi, takes time to talk to guests and to ensure they’re happy or to provide advice if asked. It’s these personal touches that make Borgo Pantano a very special place. Grazie mille a tutti!

Where do I begin? There is so much to commend with our stay at this spotlessly clean Oasis of calm which exceeded our expectations.
Giusi is warm, welcoming and very down to earth with a natural caring approach to all guests which radiates also from her staff, it is wonderful to see how much they love working here and the camaraderie they have.
Food is exceptional from breakfast which is well laid out and a feast for the eye's, to lunch and dinner serving a variety of perfection from the skilled chefs, presented to us by all the lovely waiting staff.
Of all the holiday's over many years, this is the first holiday where after 4/5 days I have not been ready to go home. Thank you Giusi for creating an amazing place on Earth, truly magical ✨️ 💖

Booked a 11 night stay booking with Jet2 staying in a Comfort room which whilst it was large there was no outside space solely for our use. However there were plenty of places within the well kept large grounds you could use. Consequently we found it difficult to dry swimming gear. The bed was very comfortable & there was no real noise although it didn't appear that the hotel was overly busy. There was no problem in finding a sunbed. A kettle & teabags were provided in the room but no milk or coffee (one for the UK visitors to be aware of!) The Breakfast was excellent and whilst the evening meals (€45 for 3 courses plus an additional €3 each coperto charge) are very good serving what we considered large portions, this wasn't our 'thing'. Being vegetarians, buffet style restaurants work better for us & we should have considered that before booking. As we didn't hire a car (& didn't want to!) you did feel quite remote. We used the hotel shuttle (€15 per room) & paid €50 return for a taxi up to the archaelogical park so that we could beat some of the crowds by arriving early.
The staff at the hotel you couldn't fault- friendly & helpful. Overall we had a good holiday using the hotel as a base to explore Ortigia, visiting 'Montalbano' country and a trip to Etna but probably wouldn't return as it's not our 'type' of hotel.

The service and food from the restaurant I couldn’t fault and the owner is always on hand which is a nice touch.
Well done Borgo !! They have a shuttle service but you would need a car or use taxi but it didn’t hinder our stay .

A lovely two night stay on our travels.
Everywhere you look there is extensive attention to detail in everything : the rooms, the patios, the terrace for breakfast, the restaurant by the pool and the extensive mature spread of landscaped gardens with orange and lemon groves, loungers, gazebos and extensive furnished nooks and crannies of delight.
Staff are very attentive throughout and with the sun shining sitting by the pool surrounded by the gardens and diving house martins, it does indeed feel like paradise imagined.
Restaurant service is attended by and overseen by the hotel owner and she adds Sicilian charm and 'old school' atmosphere to the proceedings in her personal way.
It is a good distance (8 kms) from Syracuse, so transport (car or taxi) is needed if you want to venture out for sightseeing or eating although there is a shuttle bus at €15 per room that runs twice daily at 10.30 and 2.00 for 3 hours stay in town, return included although you may wish to stay longer and taxi back.
No evening entertainment so this is the place for a chill out of peace and tranquility away from it all..
A great place to end our hectic two week tour around Sicily. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for - and more. So no complaints.
