About the location
Purpose-built in the 1950s by renowned architects, Porto Cervo is an elite seaside resort and the heart of the Costa Smeralda. Despite having less than 500 inhabitants, Porto Cervo has flourished to become a leading name in Sardinia for those looking to enjoy the luxury lifestyle.
Porto Cervo maintains a sophisticated ambience that few other Sardinian towns can match. Visitors will discover several glossy museums, like the MDM Museum which showcases popular modern artworks, as well as numerous excellent restaurants that range from affordable to high-end. Those seeking to get out and explore the local area will find several attractions within easy reach, including the fun Gregoland playground and the beautifully simplistic Stella Maris church, which also provides glorious views over the town.

Private beach a pleasant 5 minute walk down a small hill, free paddle board and kayaks, the sea is crystal clear.
Glorious setting with pool overlooking countryside and sea. We had a room overlooking the pool which was great.
Restaurant was closed except for breakfast, so don't know about that.
Only a few minutes drive from Porto Cervo where there are lots of (very expensive!) shops and restaurants, but there are other better value restaurants nearby as well, try Ricky's!
Long Beach is a very big beach about 20 minutes drive away.

Food expensive and very small portions rather than "nouveau cuisine" Breakfasts repetitive and not good quality- eg tinned fruit salad rather than fresh fruit
Drinks from bar very expensive _€5 for a cup of tea.
Beautiful location but no transport links or footpaths so a car is essential if you want to explore anything of the area.
Hotel needs more information and links to excursions.
Excursion to Archipelago del La Maddelena is a must- we were lucky enough to find 1 going from Baja.
Shuttle bus to Porto Cervo very sparse in October.
We were not told that hotel was closing on 15th October and had to wait around with no facilities since our flight was later in the evening.

The hotel is lovely and charming but not 4 star. The rooms and cleaning staff are excellent. Lovely pool and nice private beach. You DEFINATELY need a car otherwise you will find yourself stranded. There is no local transport as far as I am aware just a shuttle bus from the hotel to Puerto cuevo. We are there at the present and there is very little open in Puerto Cuevo. The restaurant staff are first class and make you feel very welcome but the food is certainly not 4 star. The breakfast is very repatitive and I think the chef could do better. We have just returned from the Bristol Hotel in Lake maggiore which is a 4 star and you can't compare the menu. The food is definately not worth the money. I think if the menus were more realistic then they would have more people eating evening meals.

Booked direct as a B&B. Nice hotel, very clean - the smell is amazing from the biggest diffuser I have seen in my life. Reception staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Nice double room, kept clean and well maintained. Breakfast - simple help yourself, but once its gone its gone. Sometimes the service wasn't the best, slightly miserable. Didn't have lunch from the pool bar. Dinner - we chose to eat in the restaurant for our first night. It was £35 per person for a choice of 4 courses. Must admit the 4 choices were quite random, but hey hoe, we wanted to at least try it. Arrived at 8 pm and we were back in our room, fed the 4 courses, drank a bottle of wine by 8.40 pm. I have never in my life been served so quickly - we were aghast AND we took our time. The portions were very minimalistic to say the least and we did enjoy what we had but we were hungry after we had finished it. It really was a couple of mouthfuls and it was gone. But what we couldn't get over was the speed each course was served at so really not worth £100 total at all. Our next few nights we ate out locally, chose what we wanted, with wine and only cost £70
Difficult to rate this hotel really - Hotel was lovely and would recommend. It has a private access to a lovely beach which is down a sandy lane with sunbeds and a lifeguard.
Pool - lovely and clean - lifeguard there very friendly and attentive. Sunbeds very comfortable and plenty available (it was end of season)
Drinks - expensive. G&T £15 and small bottle beer £8
Food - Breakfast - nice coffee, help yourself buffet style - nothing to rave about.
Dinner - really be prepared. It was nice but very rushed and very small portions.
Would we go back - probably not, but thank you.

A very nice hotel situated in beautiful gardens and a peaceful setting. Close to Porto Cervo, and within easy access to the amazing beaches of the Costa Smeralda, but you will need a car. Hotel restaurant served excellent food, a they have fantastic pool area and private beach. I found the hotel very clean and the staff were very pleasant. This is a quality hotel with nice clientele who are looking for a relaxing stay. Rooms were comfortable, and I can find no fault in our stay. It’s great value for money. I would highly recommend ale Ginestre and if I return I’d happily stay here again. The only suggestion I would make is that I would have preferred a kettle or coffee machine in my room, and this could be something for the hotel to consider adding for its guests. All in all, this was a lovely stay.
