About the location
Purpose-built in the 1950s by renowned architects, Porto Cervo is an elite seaside resort and the heart of the Costa Smeralda. Despite having less than 500 inhabitants, Porto Cervo has flourished to become a leading name in Sardinia for those looking to enjoy the luxury lifestyle.
Porto Cervo maintains a sophisticated ambience that few other Sardinian towns can match. Visitors will discover several glossy museums, like the MDM Museum which showcases popular modern artworks, as well as numerous excellent restaurants that range from affordable to high-end. Those seeking to get out and explore the local area will find several attractions within easy reach, including the fun Gregoland playground and the beautifully simplistic Stella Maris church, which also provides glorious views over the town.

We don???t usually do resort style hotels but we needed a bit of a relaxing time and this place definitely delivered.
Rooms: Spacious and perfectly suitable for a week long stay with plenty of wardrobe and draw space for you to unpack and not live in a suitcase! Bed is a bit hard, staying more than 7 days would potentially a bit uncomfortable for some people. Balcony could also do with having a light for the evenings
Pool: pretty damn perfect. Plenty of sunbeds and different pools to pick from. Really relaxing time and great view.
Beach area: we only went once as its not very sandy at all. But nice if you wanna dip in the sea rather than the pool.
Gym: i liked so much i went 5 times in 7 days! Fully equipped and usually empty.
Food: breakfast buffet is fine if not spectacular. You can order whatever you want for a cooked breakfast, which was great each day. Evening food was fine but overpriced in my opinion. View from the terrace is great. Lunch options are a bit limited and quite expensive but fine if you need a hit of food before heading back out to the pool.
Service: no complaints. Not hugely warm but very polite and efficient.
Cleanliness and covid: mask wearing in all inside communal areas and daily temperature checks. Bedrooms cleaned twice a day. Really impressed.
Area: you need to have a car really as there is not much around. There is a nice beach (Cala Granu) just down the road. Porto Cervo is a 5 min drive. Plenty of decent restaurants in the area, I???d recommend retro ristro restaurant.
I???d definitely recommend staying here if your after a relaxing stay.

First time trip to Sardegna due to a change of plans thanks to Covid. We were supposed to be in Ibiza at a favourite hotel, so expectations were high. The Colonna Resort was great - we were upgraded to a junior suite which was much appreciated, and the staff at the hotel were always happy and helpful.
The pool bar does great snacks with good sized portions, while the hotel restaurant offers a higher level of cuisine. Breakfast was plentiful with a lot of choice, and indoor or outdoor options depending on the weather.
The pools are saltwater and well kept, and the private beach has free sunbeds and is sandy. The hotel is part of the ITI hotels chain, which seems to have a number of places on the island. Would recommend day trips to San Pantaleo for the Thursday market and as a destination for dinner as there are many choices. Beaches at Principe (Cogghj) and Liscia Ruja worth a visit - the latter has a couple of beach bars. Sun beds at 50 Euro pp, with not much in the way of facilities, not really worth it though.
The Clipper and Havaoa restaurants a couple of km from the hotel offer local food from family run businesses, which we really enjoyed.
It seems this week is very low season and everywhere was quiet. Porto Cervo itself was a bit dead, with many restaurants closed. Temps were 24-27??C with some rain and high winds at times.

Me and my girfriend have booked a last minute trip to Colonna Resort as our previous holiday was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Overall I am satisfied and my main concern is that this is listed as a 5 star hotel. If that was not the case, I think our expectations would be much lower but given the 5 stars, I think that a lot could be improved.
Pros:
- Food at the restaurant is really good
- The personell is amazing and really make you feel like it s a 5 star service
- Big pools outside nice for swimming activities
Cons:
- There is no way this hotel is a 5 star hotel in terms of facilities. The rooms are ok but just old. Need serious re-design to bring it to a 5 star feel
- We experienced a lot of noise of moving furnitures coming from above our room every single day, fairly late at night 11pm or midnight. Although the personell told us that the noise was coming from the room above us and that they notified the guests, I find hard to believe that the real source of the noise were other guests. We never heard voices and the dragging of furniture would go on for quite a while...so it looked more as some cleaning and moving tables/chairs than anything else. We notified the hotel every single night but it happened on almost every day and at the end of the trip we only got an apology but nothing more. Since our holiday sleep was comprimised by the noise, it would have been nice if management did a nice gesture to amend that...but unfortunately they didnt.
- The hotel is in a pretty remote location. Although it has a great pool, there isnt much to do nearby. It s strange that the resort didnt plan activities to do as in other resorts. There were literally 0 internal activities offered by the resort

An amazing place to stay, beautiful grounds including salt water pools and a small private beach. Attentive staff. Would not recommend eating at the pool bar. The breakfast buffet is very well stocked, and eggs are cooked to order. A pianist each night playing from sunset whilst enjoying drinks on the terraces, nice touch. A truly relaxing and beautiful place to stay whilst in glorious Porto Cervo
