The Last Supper

No visit to Milan is complete without visiting Leonardo da Vinci's famous mural "Il Cenacolo" otherwise known as The Last Supper, dated to c. 1495–1498.. This inspiring work of art draws visitors from all over the globe and booking early is essential. The painting represents the scene of the Last Supper of Jesus with the Twelve Apostles, as it is told in the Gospel of John – specifically the moment after Jesus announces that one of his apostles will betray him.

Housed in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, it is Leonardo's largest work aside from the Sala delle Asse and certainly the most celebrated.
