About the location
Situated at the southern end of the lake, Garda is one of the main destinations along the coastline and enjoys a great location just 20 miles from Verona. It’s one of the most traditional resorts on the lake, offering the joint charms of a medieval centre and a pretty waterfront promenade.
The centre of the town is one of the most atmospheric found anywhere along Lake Garda’s shore, with winding alleyways and historic palazzos characterising the area. Be sure to visit some of the sights here, including the 16th-century Church of Santa Maria Assunta, known for its stunning gilded interior. You’ll also find as many independent craft shops as boutiques here, as well as plenty of authentic eateries and cute cafes.
The whole charming affair is watched over by the majestic Rocca di Garda – a huge rocky outcrop topped by the ruins of a 5th-century castle. The climb up can be challenging, but the views at the top are well worth it. When it comes to seeing more of the area, Verona is a top pick, being just over 30 minutes’ drive from the town.
The hotel is 50 minutes from Verona airport. Return private transfers included. To change your transfers or book car hire instead, simply call us once you’ve completed your booking.

The hotel was really well situated in Garda Town with many choices of restaurants and shops on the doorstep. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We just had their lowest category room, which was at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park but was well appointed and very comfortable. We were provided with lovely big bottle of Fragonard shampoo and a body wash but they weren't replaced during our 4 night stay. The smaller body lotion was however replaced mid stay. Luckily, we had a small balcony which many rooms in this category don't have. We only had a shower no bath, which apparently is the case throughout this category (I had requested a bath on booking), although the website refers to "shower cubicle or bathtub".
The swimming pool area is lovely and really big for the size of the hotel. The hotel also offered free use of bikes, which we made good use of as the flat waterside promenade is perfect for cycling. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel on two evenings in their "traditional restaurant", which offered a different set menu every night for 35 euro. The food and service was excellent. I made use of the spa to have a manicure and had excellent, friendly service. We enjoyed one of our best ever "caprise salads" at the poolside restaurant too for lunch one day.
Due to Covid, we were told upon check in that each evening we would need to complete a room service breakfast check list and hand it to reception so that staff would know what we wanted as there was currently no buffet service. Unfortunately, this meant that all the food arrived all at once in different bowls - fruit, yogurt along with all the hot food items and toast etc. My husband's poached eggs were stone cold as was much of the other hot food and toast so clearly had been prepared in advance rather than fresh. We only went to breakfast once due to this. We would like to suggest a shorter menu with different course options that could be ordered on the morning, which many hotels are offering at the moment. This would ensure freshly cooked food served in a guest friendly way.
We loved the artifacts positioned around the hotel and quirky touches like individual decorations on each table in the dining room.
This slight niggle aside, the Regina Adelaide is a fabulous hotel and certainly the best quality hotel in central Garda Town. We really appreciated being able to extend our check out time as our room was not needed that day as this enabled us to have a last minute cycle and swim and shower afterwards, fresh for the flight home. We also really appreciated the complementary tea and coffee while we waited for our taxi to the airport - these extra touches make all the difference!
Thank you Regina Adelaide, we will be back!

The hotel and its grounds are wonderful. Location is very near the lake, yet peaceful. It is an old building in very good shape. Everything is clean and shining. Everything is of good taste, furniture, carpets, leather, mirrors.
Our junior suite 318 was spacious, 30 m2, fully equipped with good taste. There was a large balcony with 2 seats and 2 loungers, view to beautiful old trees and even partial view of the lake.
The bathroom was large again and fully equipped, one sink, bathtube.
The bed and the linen were excellent providing good sleep.
There is a big swimming pool with large grounds around, peaceful, within beautiful Mediterranean vegetation.
Parking was no problem, very close a secluded lot. No assistance with luggage but that was no problem.
Another story was the dining facilities. For breakfast you had to fill out a form on the previous day- corona times! Selection was wide- quality ok.
For dinner there was a gourmet restaurant. Products of excellent quality- the combinations depending on personal taste if you like or not, such as grounded mushrooms with grounded hazelnut, so-called creative cuisine
In the main restaurant there was offered a fixed price dinner of 35 Euros and enough choice.
There was one very friendly and helpful lady, Laura.
The other waiters were or a bit rude or not well-trained, in any case not welcoming. They were not in line with the otherwise great hotel.
Overall, the hotel is great and we will come back. Probably we will look for outside restaurants as a mix to what the hotel offers.
Beautiful walks lakeside to Bardolino, 50 minutes, and boat connection between many lake villages.
