About the location
Situated at the southern end of the lake, Garda is one of the main destinations along the coastline and enjoys a great location just 20 miles from Verona. It’s one of the most traditional resorts on the lake, offering the joint charms of a medieval centre and a pretty waterfront promenade.
The centre of the town is one of the most atmospheric found anywhere along Lake Garda’s shore, with winding alleyways and historic palazzos characterising the area. Be sure to visit some of the sights here, including the 16th-century Church of Santa Maria Assunta, known for its stunning gilded interior. You’ll also find as many independent craft shops as boutiques here, as well as plenty of authentic eateries and cute cafes.
The whole charming affair is watched over by the majestic Rocca di Garda – a huge rocky outcrop topped by the ruins of a 5th-century castle. The climb up can be challenging, but the views at the top are well worth it. When it comes to seeing more of the area, Verona is a top pick, being just over 30 minutes’ drive from the town.

We booked our holiday quite late - we did ask for a front view but they were all sadly taken. However we got a side view with a nice balcony and not overlooked. The room was nice- typical Italian and had a well stocked bar and enough wardrobe space and hangers! It was cleaned everyday.
The hotel team and staff are so lovely, friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious- eggs cooked any way if required . Our favourite being cheese and onion omelette! We even got a free Prosecco one morning !
The food menu for lunch was absolutely gorgeous. We would have liked to have had more lunches there but being only a week we were out most days . The salads, the club sandwich were heavenly heavenly as were the drinks. Perfectly made spritzes too. The pool area is lovely as are the gorgeous gardens. No problem with sunbeds and pool service. It is a quiet place - no music in the bar or entertainment etc but it was perfect after a long day and night out.
It’s close to all the main lakefront, shops and eateries. Perfect for getting the ferry stop and bus terminal.
It’s on a slightly elevated position so you get great views but not steep. Especially if you go to the entrance on the right.
They were so helpful giving advice on places to visit, how to use the ferry timetable etc . We couldn’t have been more pleased and would choose again.
If we really had to nitpick then our shower head could do with a replacement- it had seen better days and wasn’t very even flow. But that was it literally. Thank you Hotel Garden for a lovely stay

Hubby and I just returned from a 2 week stay at this lovely hotel. We messaged hotel prior to our arrival requesting a 2nd. floor room with a good view of the lake and that is exactly what we got. The room was large with plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom was immaculately clean but very small and the shower was tiny. Breakfast buffet was more than adequate with plenty of choice. All the staff at the Garden are amazing and are always on hand with help and advice. The hotel could not be better located, being approx 5 mins walk to the lake promenade and boat departure point and just a little further to the bus station. We stayed in room 142 and had an amazing view of the lake. Would definitely recommend Hotel Garden and hope to return one day.

The crowning glory at this Hotel are the Staff and the high level of customer service they provide, they cannot do enough for you during your stay. This is a great location for the town, ferry and lake. We had a Lake View and balcony and it was well worth the extra cost. Overall cleanliness was extremely high. Room was furnished in an Italian style and very comfortable. If I personally owned the room I would probably have it on my list for a "freshen up" at some point, including the bathroom, which was a little dated. However these comments should not take away the fact it was a nice comfortable, generally well maintained room. We could only find one plug for charging phones in the room and luckily brought an extension lead. There was also no tea and coffee facilities in the room, albeit there appeared some available on a trolley near reception at times. Breakfast was very good, including cake !. Omelettes cooked to order were delicious. Outdoor gym was well equipped and a lovely pool. We had a great stay, and the negative comments are more aimed at further improving this lovely hotel and we have no hesitation in recommending it.
