About the location
The charming town of Desenzano lies on the southern banks of Lake Garda, gazing out towards the Alps. With three large beaches and numerous cafes along the lake’s waterfront, it’s easy to relax here. Spend some time walking the pleasant historic streets up to the town’s Castello, where you can enjoy wonderful views over Desenzano, visiting the impressive Roman villa or marvelling at the cathedral's 16th-century architecture. There are plenty of shops dotted around the town, with everything from well-loved high street shops to charming, individual boutiques.
Desenzano is a great base for explorations of northern Italy. Lake Garda’s other towns are accessible by regular ferries and the cities of Milan, Verona and Venice are easily reached by train.

This was my fifth time of staying in this hotel and, as always, it didn’t disappoint. From the warm welcome upon our arrival to the ample breakfast we couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more. Even on the one rainy day we were able to hunker down in the lounge with a couple of cold drinks and some snacks.

We have just returned from our stay at Hotel Nazionale, and it was faultless. The staff go above and beyond! We have a four yr old and a very busy 18 month old and as children are, they can be a little loud and are very playful, especially whilst having breakfast. The first morning we as parents were trying to settle them etc but all the staff made us feel at ease. They gave out pencils and colouring books, tried to talk with our toddler, and were very accommodating a friendly. The pool is fantastic alongside the food. The location is brilliant as you are only a small walk away from the centre, ferry port and train station. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

Just returned from a week in this hotel and would thoroughly recommend. Although it states 3star I would suggest it’s worthy of a four star rating. Absolutely spotless, lovely staff and rooms. Great pool area with plenty of sunbeds and parasols which were definitely needed as the temperature hit 39 degrees some days! The Manager Christiano was excellent and always very pleasant and approachable. Although only half board there is a great choice at breakfast and snacks are available throughout the day. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk into town which has an an area in front of the promenade with lovely seating and gardens where most people gather day and evening. The ferry runs from the harbour every hour to neighbouring Simonie which is absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit. Needless to say the scenery round here is absolutely stunning. Excellent choice of restaurants but if u don’t like pizza, pasta or ice-cream ur in the wrong country! Will most definitely return to this hotel
