About the location
The charming town of Desenzano lies on the southern banks of Lake Garda, gazing out towards the Alps. With three large beaches and numerous cafes along the lake’s waterfront, it’s easy to relax here. Spend some time walking the pleasant historic streets up to the town’s Castello, where you can enjoy wonderful views over Desenzano, visiting the impressive Roman villa or marvelling at the cathedral's 16th-century architecture. There are plenty of shops dotted around the town, with everything from well-loved high street shops to charming, individual boutiques.
Desenzano is a great base for explorations of northern Italy. Lake Garda’s other towns are accessible by regular ferries and the cities of Milan, Verona and Venice are easily reached by train.

What a wonderful hotel! Extremely clean rooms and hotel, friendly and helpful staff, good food and a great sized pool with a sunny space to enjoy the Italian sun! It???s hard to find family rooms in Italy at times but this hotel provides them (king size bed and two singles). Room was generously sized despite the extra beds and exceptionally clean. Some things to help future travellers:
1. Walk into town is 5 minutes from the hotel
2. Walk from train station is 15 mins (downhill on way here!) but is very manageable and helpful. Can get train from here direct to Milan, Verona (and onto Venice) etc.
3. Breakfast is excellent. Fresh local foods-bread, jams, fresh honey, meats, scrambled and boiled eggs, fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurt, fruit juices. Can have breakfast inside or in terrace.
4. Hotel serves good selection of poolside food on terrace from around 12-2 and from 6pm. Favourites were focaccia with ham and cheese, breaded chicken in focaccia and piadina (toasted wrap with ham and cheese).
5. Lots of restaurants and Gelateria???s in town to choose from
6. Rooms have air conditioning that works really well
7. There is a grocery shop minutes walk from the hotel which is very handy.
8. There is a huge local market that arrives on a Tuesday in the Main Street in the town which is worth a visit.
Overall, a fantastic holiday in a lovely hotel that deserves the 5 star rating. Would definitely stay here again!

The hotel is really clean & the perfect size. All the staff are very friendly & helpful. Our bedroom was lovely & a very good size, with a very good bathroom & large shower. The swimming pool is very clean & a good size. The hotel is in a really good position for both the mainline railway station (15 minutes walk) & into town (5 minutes walk) where the ferries are located. We didn't really need the hire car. We used the train to go to Venice (1.5 hours) & the ferry to travel around the Lake. With hindsight we should have used the train instead of the hire car, to go to Verona. It was the perfect stay.
