About the location
Holidays to Bellagio have long been associated with luxury, opulent architecture and unrivalled natural beauty. Often recognised as one of the most stunning destinations in the world, Bellagio, commonly referred to as the Pearl of Lake Como, is one of three towns in the Golden triangle - the others being Menaggio and Varenna.
Lake Como is
Italy’s third largest lake and the picture perfect pre-Roman town of Bellagio is the perpetual favourite for holidaymakers seeking to experience the unwavering charm that this enchanting town has to offer. Even with its partially steep streets, exploring the small town can be done on foot or by bicycle, though local busses, water taxis, ferries and even speedboats are alternative options to explore further afield. Popular for its water activities, rowing, kayaking and kite surfing can also be enjoyed on Lake Como’s calm waters.
Back on land, numerous boutique shops selling jewellery, clothes, antiques, porcelains and potteries line the mazy cobbled streets. Culinary delights, typical of the Lombardy region, can be sampled in the main piazza’s waterfront bars and restaurants, accompanied by local wine harvested in North Lake Como and Montevecchia. Famed for its panoramic snow-capped views of The Alps, tree-lined slopes and romantic garden views, Bellagio is also known for its villas, primarily Villa Melzi and Villa Serbelloni.

We were lucky to get away for a few days here in mid September- including coinciding with some beautiful weather. The hotel is doing its very best to overcome the problems with Covid and provided us with a relaxing and enjoyable break.
First of all, the position of the hotel is excellent: ten minutes walk out of town and with brilliant views over the eastern branch of the lake. I don???t think you can beat the view from the pool!
The service is superb- always one of our major considerations - both in reception and in the dining room. Prices are a little steep but you don???t mind paying if you???re getting value. We were welcomed every time we came and went with a smile and a greeting.
Bellagio itself is clearly a popular destination but, like the hotel itself, has been hit by reduced tourist numbers. We had little trouble booking restaurants, and the town was comparatively quiet.
If you???re considering a holiday there, take a serious look at the Belvedere. You won???t be disappointed.

I???m so pleased we booked the Belvedere hotel for our couple of days in Lake Como. Bellagio is the best location to be based, the hotel a short 5 minute walk into the centre of town and to the ferry port.
The hotel grounds are outstanding, beautiful pool area and the most breathtaking views of the lake and the mountains. The staff are very polite and attentive, following covid-19 regulations very well. I was surprised to find no staff taking drinks orders by the pool, I feel this would improve the whole experience. We booked the spa area as it now is mandatory to book a time slot to ensure the spa is throughly sanitised after each guests. We had it all to ourselves for 2 hours, my only wish is that they had some heated beds to lie on, as they only had sun loungers and the aircon was high.
Our room was a decent size and extremely clean. I do think the bathroom was on the smaller side and the shower was extremely small. The shower doors were also very awkward to open and close and the toilet button was very hard to push!
I would of expected a coffee machine in the room for a high quality hotel, there was a kettle and some tea and instant coffee but no milk so I didn???t use the facilities.
Bed was very comfy!! I couldn???t wait to go to sleep again the following night!
Breakfast was ok, nothing blew me away. I have had better breakfasts in other hotels in Italy.
Overall I???m so pleased we booked the Belvedere Hotel, however for the price I did expect a couple of little details to be better.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

I really liked the hotel and the grounds are quite stunning, overlooking the lake is really nice whilst swimming and sunbathing.
But, you are paying an absolute premium for that view and you don???t get much in return.
- You get two bottles of water in the room, it does not get replaced each day which we were completely shocked about.
- No water in the gym
- if you get breakfast included, you only get basics. If you want something like porridge or eggs Benedict then you have to pay extra
- rooms were very average
Give you pay upwards of ???400 per night, I would have expected at least water to be provided around the hotel for guests.
As said, the grounds of the hotel and the view is what you pay for. You don???t get much else.
