Salo is a sought-after holiday resort on the south-west shores of Lake Garda, close to Gardone Riviera. It's home to the largest pedestrian promenade on the lake, which is edged with yachts and colourful boats and offers wonderful views of the water. It's the perfect place to stroll after dinner.
With a rich history dating back to the Roman times, Salo’s past is showcased through the town in its buildings, churches and squares. Pay a visit the Palazzo della Magnifica Patria, which dates back to 1524 and now houses the town’s Civic Archaeological Museum. The duomo is Salo’s most important monument. This Gothic-style cathedral has a stunning façade and an equally impressive interior.
Salo is a haven for watersports enthusiasts, with activities including fishing, rowing, sailing and windsurfing. There are also plenty of opportunities for hiking and biking in the surrounding area.
