- Located a few minute's stroll from the centre of Ischia Town
- Private beach with access to clear Mediterranean waters
Boasting a prime location on the shores of Porto d’Ischia, the five star Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & Spa promises guests a refined stay and plenty of opportunities to admire panoramic views over the Gulf of Naples. The hotel is situated in the centre of the bustling port town meaning an array of bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance, but the hotel is tucked away behind beautiful gardens giving a feeling of peace and tranquillity.
A lovely outdoor heated pool is the perfect spot to relax, with a pool bar serving refreshing drinks and snacks during the day. Just steps away from the pool, the hotel’s private beach boasts loungers and bathing platforms that give easy access to the clear Mediterranean waters. For the ultimate day of relaxation though, we would recommend heading to the spa. The Roman-style spa uses the Island’s thermal waters to offer a range of wellness programmes. There is also a large indoor pool, sauna Turkish bath and fitness room.
Guest rooms at the hotel are all individually decorated, using local accents and bright colours. Those upgrading to a Suite will enjoy superb panoramic sea views from the top floors of the building. These views can also be enjoyed from the hotel’s fantastic restaurant. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, diners can enjoy traditional Mediterranean cuisine either inside or on the large terrace.

About the location
Porto d’Ischia is the island’s capital, known to locals purely as ‘Ischia’. Situated on the eastern coast of Ischia, this town is the closest settlement to the mainland and so acts as the island’s premier port, with great transport links to Naples and Procida. Once an established spa town, Porto d’Ischia is now home to an increasing number of trendy restaurants and chic bars, mostly set along the popular seafront ‘Right Bank’ promenade. Further inland, visitors can find pine forest parks and thermal spas, but the main highlights are found by the coast. San Pietro Beach is the most popular, thanks to its impressive stretch of sand and handful of intimate beach bars. Ischia’s most popular attraction is also at the seafront – Aragonese Castle. Dating from 474 BC, this remarkable fortification can easily be reached via a dramatic causeway that juts from the mainland into the sea.
When it comes to food and drink, Porto d’Ischia truly excels. Visitors will find a diverse array of eateries spread between the seafront and the city’s main shopping street, with options ranging from modern haute cuisine to authentic home-made fare. Wine-making is a popular industry here too, and you’ll find plenty of opportunities to experience this nearby.

This hotel is a true gem - a hidden find. It looks nice in the photos but they don’t do it justice and it is lovelier when you get there
The staff make this place. Nothing is too much trouble. They all want their guests to have a sublime time and each member takes whatever initiative they can to bring this about
The food is delicious - lovely breakfasts with lots of choice and fabulous fruit, wonderful lunches and dinners
The view from cocktails terrace and restaurant are lovely
The rooms are nice - a good size and they all have spacious balconies. We used ours a lot after our last swim
of the day and before heading out for the evening . Rooms all have plentiful water and coffee/tea facilities and a turn down service with chocolates at night
The hotel has a large pool and private beach
Lots of attention was given to Covid safe practices
Thank you! We had a really wonderful holiday and could literally feel the stress of the pandemic months just easing from our shoulders as we sunk into this wonderful cocoon. We will return
Don’t miss William Walton’s house and gardens for a day trip and if and when Covid is over and you explore further afield, Pompei and Herculaneum are a must .

My stay at the Excelsior Belvedere was perfect, the grounds, swimming pools & private beach were incredible.
The view from the beach of the monastery is just exceptional.
Blanca in reception was so helpful and helped me to arrange everything from thermal spring visits in negombo to my ferry and even organised a packed breakfast since I was leaving so early. She went above an beyond for me, exceptional service! Enzo makes a mean cocktail and is very friendly. Gianni the beach lifeguard is fantastic and extremely helpful. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and will do anything to make sure you have the perfect stay.
My room was well appointed and the housekeeping staff did a wonderful job cleaning the room to an exceptional standard, new towels, products, water, turndown service etc..
This truly is a 5 star hotel, that is well located with incredible amenities, I wish I could’ve stayed longer.

Last year in September my hausband and I returned again on this beautiful island to the Excelsior for our 10th wedding anniversary. I did not expect that this stay could have been better than the previous one, but I was mistaken! We love this amazing and fabulous place, which is probably the best hotel on the island. We had the same room of our last visit, a suite with view on the sea and the Aragonese Castle, as requested. Once again great welcome, exceptional room, impeccable service, incredibly attentive staff (everywhere, restaurant, bar, reception, spa, beach), delicious food. We have experienced numerous luxury hotels and this is certainly our preferred one. A sublime harmony reigns in every corner of the hotel: the glamorous lobby with the unobtrusive live piano music in the evening, the relaxing indoor and outdoor thermal pools, the beautiful flowers of the park and even a manicured vegetable garden. Highly recommended, we will definitely be back!

This is an amazing hotel and the service was unbelievable. Everyone goes out of their way to help you with whatever you need. We first thought we could rent a scooter, but switched to a car and it was no problem for the front desk who handled everything for us and gave us great advice on what to do on the island! Getting a car is highly recommended to go to the thermal spa, see sant'angelo, and climb mount epomeo. Lucia and the hotel manager are so nice and we hope we can come back one day.
The beach was actually very nice too! It's small and across the street, but the pool / spa/ beach stay open much later than other places in Europe which is very nice to be able to make the most of it and when you swim out in the ocean you can see the castle. Spend a day walking to the castle and the city on the way there, and then relaxing at the hotel.
