Your eight day multicentre holiday starts with the cliff hugging towns of the Amalfi Coast, where you can take a romantic boat trip along the coast, or hike to the village of Furore to see its famous fjord.

It's a four hour drive from Amalfi to Puglia, giving you enough time to take in this beautiful part of Italy.

Fly into Naples International Airport and head to the Amalfi Coast, which is an hour and a half away by car or bus. Once you've found your hotel, start exploring Amalfi Town, the heart of the Coast. Head to the main piazza and climb the 62 steps to the city's cathedral, Duomo di Sant' Andrea, to see its mosaic façade and Baroque influenced interior. Then, wander through cobbled alleyways to the Paper Museum. Amalfi has produced handmade paper for artists for centuries, and the tradition continues today.

End your day with a bowl of Scialiatielli ai Frutti di mare (pasta with seafood) accompanied by a glass of Tremonti Rosé in one of the restaurants overlooking the sea.

Points of Interest

Map of Days 2-3: Amalfi Coast

It’s time to hit the beach and admire the coast’s breath taking scenery. A change from the region’s pebble beaches, Maiori is a sandy beach and the longest on the Amalfi Coast. It’s perfect for sunbathing, and there are plenty of cafés and restaurants to refuel in. You can take a boat tour from Maiori to Conca dei Marini and its enchanting Emerald Cave, where the water changes from blue to green depending on the light.

Travel the road between Positano and Praiano and visit two of Amalfi's coastal villages. Whitewashed houses pepper steep terraces, leaning down towards the sea in Praiano, an ancient fishing village. Now a favourite with artists and writers, it's the place to go if you like walking and spectacular views. If you want an alternative to travelling by road, you can join ‘The Path of the Gods', the best known walk along the Amalfi Coast. Hike past large mountains, wildflower-filled meadows and the ruins of stone houses, until you reach Positano, where you can lose yourself in the boutiques and cafés which grace its narrow streets. Don't forget to pick up a bottle of Limoncello, a local liquor sipped as a digestif all over Italy.

Enjoy a scenic adventure on your Amalfi and Puglia multicentre holiday as you travel across the countryside to Puglia, on the south eastern tip of Italy. The journey takes around four hours, so stop for lunch and a spot of sightseeing in Potenza, in the Basilicata region. Explore the ruins of the medieval castle, Torre Guevara, before taking a mini art tour of the Cathedral and Romanesque Church of San Michele Arcangelo, both of which house important works of art.

Once you've set down your luggage in your hotel room, it's time for dinner, served al fresco style. Order a bottle of dry Primitivo di Manduria to go with regional favourite, Orecchiette Cime di Rapa (broccoli and garlic with ‘little ear' pasta) and relax.

Take a trip to the unique town of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its trulli, or small, traditional stone buildings, with whitewashed walls and conical roofs. The well preserved trulli now house restaurants and shops, selling souvenirs to a constant stream of tourists.

Nicknamed the White City, the eye catching hilltop town of Ostuni sits above a swathe of olive trees which envelop the countryside. This is a place for those that admire history. The city is a maze of small streets and stone steps, taking you past pretty gardens and tiny trattorias, to its impressive 15th Century Gothic cathedral. If you fancy a change from pasta for dinner, try Sformato di Patate, or potato flan, a simple dish made with eggs, new potatoes, mozzarella, ham and pecorino.

On your last full day in Puglia, visit the city of Lecce. Its baroque influence defines the old town, where you’ll find historic buildings and monuments sculpted from local sandstone. Head to the Piazza del Duomo, the cathedral square, which is surrounded by beautiful buildings.

Before you set off for Bari Airport (two hours away), and your flight back to the UK, have a leisurely breakfast of local pastries. Pasticciotto, an oval tart with a cream filled centre, and Fruttone, with its almond paste and pear centre, coated in chocolate, go perfectly with a strong Italian coffee.
