Sail to the Blue Grotto

Hop aboard a small boat and sail to Capri’s most famous natural wonder, the Blue Grotto. As sunlight passes through underwater cavities, the sea glows a brilliant neon blue, creating a magical, almost otherworldly effect. It is best to visit in the morning when the light is strongest and the sea is calm.

For a bird’s eye view of Capri, ride the single-seat chairlift from Anacapri up to Monte Solaro, the highest point on the island. The peaceful, scenic ride takes just twelve minutes, and at the top, you are rewarded with panoramic views over the Bay of Naples, the Sorrentine Peninsula, and even Mount Vesuvius on a clear day.

Explore Villa Jovis and Villa Lysis

From the centre of Capri, an uphill walk of about an hour along the slopes of Mount Tiberius brings you to the impressive remains of Villa Jovis. Once the residence of Emperor Tiberius, this vast Roman villa sits dramatically on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Nearby, Villa Lysis, built in the early 1900s by French poet Jacques d’Adelswärd-Fersen, offers a peaceful retreat with its classical and art nouveau styles and tranquil gardens overlooking the water.

What to eat in Capri

When it comes to food, Capri offers a delicious taste of authentic Mediterranean flavours. The iconic Caprese salad is a must try, simple yet fresh, with ripe tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, fragrant basil and a drizzle of local olive oil. Seafood lovers will adore the range of dishes on offer. On summer evenings, you can watch the flickering lights of the boats on the waters offshore catching cuttlefish, a local staple. Stuffed with herbs and vegetables or cooked in a rich sauce with potatoes, it’s a Capresian classic you won’t want to miss.
