Juliet's Balcony

One of the most famous sights in Verona, Juliet's balcony has for many years seen tourists flock to get a glance at the spot where Romeo allegedly declared his eternal love. Known as Juliet's house, the 13th century dwelling is now a museum that still bears the coat of arms of the 'Dal Cappello', said to be the Capulet family from Shakespeare’s great love tragedy.

Tourists are permitted to stand on the famous balcony which was actually added to the structure in the 20th century, and many leave love letters stuck to the walls of the courtyard in the hope they will be answered. Some also believe that those seeking eternal love should rub the right breast of Juliet's bronze statue in the courtyard to ensure they are united with their soul mate.
