About the location
Everyone knows about Pisa’s Leaning Tower and magnificent baroque basilica, but look behind these brochure cover stars and you’ll find an array of modem museums, picturesque piazzas and exceptional restaurants vying for your attention. Of course, the city’s wonky bell tower is its main draw and is entirely deserving of its worldwide fame. Taking a novelty photo in front of the tower is great fun – book ahead if you want to climb to the top to avoid the queues. The entire area, known as the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and packs plenty of appeal. Along with the tower, you can visit landmarks including the 11th-century marble-clad duomo and the remarkable baptistery, believed to be the largest in Italy.
Wander just a few streets away and you’ll discover a much more typical Pisan scene; locals milling about beneath rustic townhouses, and bustling cafes nestled in peaceful squares. Piazza de Cavalieri and Piazza Dante are two such examples of the authentic Pisa that many miss. Pisa’s botanical gardens are also worth a visit, and feature numerous rare plants set in surprisingly tranquil surroundings, especially considering their location is just a 10-minute stroll from the city’s famous Leaning Tower.

We picked this hotel due to its close proximity to the train station. So handy to hop on the bus or train and saves miles on the feet! Spotlessly clean, great breakfast and staff were so polite and friendly. We took advantage of their free lugggage storage facility as we had late flights and fancied a bit of last minute shopping. We stayed in a family room. Very spacious Hope to return soon.

Top City Break Hotel with perfect location for exploring Tuscany

We were visiting Tuscany region for the first time and wanted to explore a little, so despite mixed feelings on reviews of this and several other hotels we had reviewed, took the plunge and boy we were not dissapointed. Location was key as we knew we'd be relying on travelling to Lucca area, Cinque-Terre & Florence during our four day stay; So the real bonus on arrival was realising how close the hotel actually is to the central station... literally a 2 minute walk across the road from the main entrance (if that!) We purhased train tickets on the day for each of our trips with no hassle and went everywhere planned totally stress free due to the excellence of Italy's train service (the UK could learn a lot!) Anyway on to the hotel itself... rooms are as they appear: Nicely designed/decorated, welcoming, very clean and perfectly functional (a little on the bijou side, but who needs loads of room for a short city stay?) The whole hotel, all spaces were immaculately clean (saw people cleaning every day). We didn't get to use the resturant for brekkie as had early starts most of the time so can't comment on that part. We did though have a lovely suprise on our anniversary in that after returning after a long day out, the guys had placed a beautiful plate of food and bottle of prosecco alongside a printed/personalised congratulations display in our room. If that food was anything to go by, then breakfast is probably very good. On arrival (around 11am) we were told that not only was our room available for early (complimentary) check in, but they also upgraded us from superior room to a 5th floor superior with balcony. There may not be sea views here, but we certainly used it given the hot weather. The only issue we had whilst there was our in room safe had an error code so we couldn't get in. But on speaking to reception they were very reassuring and had maintenance attend our room within a few minutes whereby this was sorted out, no issue. Hand on heart, we would like to stay here again, thinking of returning with the kids at some point - seriously wouldn't look at another hotel in Pisa given such a wonderful stay in a perfect location for exploring the wider area and only a leisurely 20 min walk to the Tower & Cathedral too, so all in easy reach. A massive thank you to Jolanda and all the team here for making our stay so pleasant and memorable. We hope to return.

No kettle in the room...looks like a 2 stars hotel. Breakfast is ok but eggs are served cold since they r nit placed on heater.
Disappointing 5 days stay!
