About the location
Everyone knows about Pisa’s Leaning Tower and magnificent baroque basilica, but look behind these brochure cover stars and you’ll find an array of modem museums, picturesque piazzas and exceptional restaurants vying for your attention. Of course, the city’s wonky bell tower is its main draw and is entirely deserving of its worldwide fame. Taking a novelty photo in front of the tower is great fun – book ahead if you want to climb to the top to avoid the queues. The entire area, known as the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and packs plenty of appeal. Along with the tower, you can visit landmarks including the 11th-century marble-clad duomo and the remarkable baptistery, believed to be the largest in Italy.
Wander just a few streets away and you’ll discover a much more typical Pisan scene; locals milling about beneath rustic townhouses, and bustling cafes nestled in peaceful squares. Piazza de Cavalieri and Piazza Dante are two such examples of the authentic Pisa that many miss. Pisa’s botanical gardens are also worth a visit, and feature numerous rare plants set in surprisingly tranquil surroundings, especially considering their location is just a 10-minute stroll from the city’s famous Leaning Tower.

NH Pisa is conveniently located right opposite Pisa Centrale station, making it ideal for travelers. Bus 1+ stops directly in front of the hotel and takes you straight to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which is a big plus. However, our initial experience with the rooms was disappointing???we were given older rooms that clearly need serious renovation. One had a bathroom door that wouldn't close properly, and the second had no power at all, requiring a plumber and electrician visit. Thankfully, the hotel staff accommodated our request, and we were eventually moved to a newly renovated room that was excellent, with modern furniture and brand-new bathroom fittings. Once settled, the stay was comfortable, but the hotel would greatly benefit from updating all rooms to the newer standard. We did not try the breakfast as we had a early train to catch.
Disliked ?? We were initially given old, poorly maintained rooms???one had a faulty bathroom door, and another had no power, requiring a plumber and electrician. The rooms clearly need major renovation. The experience was frustrating until we were moved to a renovated room.

You really can't do better for location if you want a base to explore Tuscany. The hotel is across the road from Pisa Central Station.
It's 15 minutes walk from the main shopping and restaurant area and 20 minutes from the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
I stayed on the 3rd floor for a few nights and my room was modern, clean and comfortable.
We had little need of help but what interaction we had with staff was positive.
Can't give the place maximum stars though as there are no ironing boards available in the room. The only provision is a single ironing board that dozens of guests have to share.
Even the most basic of budget hotels in the UK tend to have an iron so this was really disappointing from a 4 star hotel.

Poor front desk attitude, not welcoming at all as an initial experience. Also, any inquiries you make to the front desk the constant answer is "No" with no effort to provide alternative options. I came with my 75 yr. old Mom - they don't offer a luggage rack so luggage is opened and closed on the floor, no kettle available. Re housekeeping, I left a 5 Euro tip & a note in Italian to replace the kleenex in the bathroom as it was finished & found they didn't replace it nor take out the garbage in the bathroom but ofcourse took the tip! The best service from this hotel came from Claudio, the chef who took care of our group, he was warm, accommodating & flexible, food was very good. Don't come here if you are expecting minimum 3 star service, it is definitely 2 or lower.

The staff on the front desk were friendly, welcoming and efficient, and the location opposite Pisa Centrale is perfect. However, we had many issues and this stay was poor.
The room we were allocated could only be described as decrepit. The bathroom was in a terrible state, with a cracked basin and a shower that barely worked. The decor was from the 90???s and everything was chipped and broken. Two of the plug sockets didn???t work. The WiFi was terrible; it was slow and kept losing connection
We had major issues with noise - there was a football team staying on the floor above using the room above ours to congregate. I had to complain twice. The lone member of staff on reception did her best, but there wasn???t a lot she could do because she couldn???t leave the front desk. It kept us awake until late.
The restaurant and bar was closed ???due to an event???.
Overall, we were very disappointed. The experience was unacceptable from a major hotel chain.

The location is both ideal for exploring Pisa and the wider Tuscany region, given that it???s across the square from Pisa Centrale train station.
