About the location
Holidays in Lucca take you to the beautiful Tuscan countryside in the heart of Italy. This Renaissance town is home to 16th Century architecture and historic sights, with the vineyards and rolling green hills of Tuscany just outside its walls.
Perfect for a city break or part of a longer trip, spend your holidays in Lucca partaking in the ancient Italian art of people watching in the relaxed cafés and family run trattorias lining its streets and bustling Piazzas. Wander the streets or hire bicycles and stop off at the many beautiful sights, before heading into the countryside for wine tasting, exquisite cuisine and spectacular photo opportunities.
Day trips are a must on any holiday in Lucca. Florence’s Renaissance architecture and wonderful artworks are just over an hour away by train or car. Visit the leaning tower of Pisa or the town of Livorno which dates back to the 16th Century. Both are under an hour away.

The hotel is 30 minute transfer from Pisa airport. We recommend hiring a car in your destination. Simply call us once you’ve completed your booking and we will talk you through the options.

We had a spacious triple room which was a modern boutique style, very well appointed with views of the pretty canal.
Breakfast was an excellent buffet with a full choice of pastries, hams, cheeses, bacon and scrambled eggs. The team servicing the buffet were very helpful.
The hotel also offers a complimentary snack and soft drinks bar during the day, plus a happy hour between 5 and 7 pm with free self-serve bottled beers and Prosecco, plus savoury and sweet snacks. A real treat. Or, guests could make their own Aperol Spritz, for ???6.
The hotel is ideally situated - the main parts of the beautiful historical city are just a few minutes??? walk, and there are many fine well-priced restaurants, although it???s useful to reserve a table the day before.
The city???s ancient walls are incredible and the hotel has bikes, free for guests, to enjoy a scenic ride.
Lucca railway station is a short flat walk from the hotel, with convenient services to destinations including Pisa, Viareggio and, further afield, Florence.
In total, a wonderful week away, would highly recommend Lucca and Hotel Ilaria.

This was our 2nd visit to Hotel Ilaria, and we intend to come back again. We stayed in an annexe across from the main hotel, and it was clean and very spacious, and a great location to explore Lucca. Check in and out was easy.
Free bike rental is great, and bikes were regularly available. The snacks were also fantastic, as it was always nice to get a complementary cold drink after exploring on a hot day.
Breakfast was the highlight. Lots of choice, and all really tasty, situated in a nice room where tables were always available. The staff at breakfast were amazing. On our 3rd morning, one of the waitresses recognised us and brought us our drinks order without us having to ask, this little action made us really feel like we were at a home away from home. Thank you so much.

Great location at the gate to the center. Free happy hour was a nice feature. Rooms are comfortable. We reserved parking ahead of time and they parked our car in the attached garage. Would stay there...

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night. The room was on the first floor of the annex with a window facing a wall. The bathroom was designed for the elderly which is great if one requires a seat to take a shower. Otherwise it was extremely poor quality. Worst of all the bathroom had a very strong smell of bleach. All in all the worst hotel experience we have had in many year. Shocking really.
