About the location
Holidays in Lucca take you to the beautiful Tuscan countryside in the heart of Italy. This Renaissance town is home to 16th Century architecture and historic sights, with the vineyards and rolling green hills of Tuscany just outside its walls.
Perfect for a city break or part of a longer trip, spend your holidays in Lucca partaking in the ancient Italian art of people watching in the relaxed cafés and family run trattorias lining its streets and bustling Piazzas. Wander the streets or hire bicycles and stop off at the many beautiful sights, before heading into the countryside for wine tasting, exquisite cuisine and spectacular photo opportunities.
Day trips are a must on any holiday in Lucca. Florence’s Renaissance architecture and wonderful artworks are just over an hour away by train or car. Visit the leaning tower of Pisa or the town of Livorno which dates back to the 16th Century. Both are under an hour away.
Transfer time
The hotel is 30 minute transfer from Pisa airport. We recommend hiring a car in your destination. Simply call us once you’ve completed your booking and we will talk you through the options.

We are from Scotland and stayed here a week from 8th November. Excellent hotel. Lovely facilities and fantastic quality. Lovely room ( although we would have preferred to be in the main building than the tower), extremely comfortable bed and all facilities first class. The hotel is excellently positioned for exploring Lucca and reaching the train station to wider explore Tuscany.Staff were all exceptional - breakfast ladies deserve a special mention, they were all lovely and very efficient -as do all the reception staff who likewise were very helpful and always willing and available to assist. We were very impressed. A special mention to Greta on reception. Not only was she first class in dealing with any requirements we had- such as booking a private transfer to the airport- but she was always smiling and cheery and nothing was ever a problem. Compliments to everyone. We hope to be back and will highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lucca. Well done and thank you Brian and Joyce

The hotel is in a fairy good location but quite a walk from the main square for us geriatrics in the intense heat that there was in May ! It???s easily accessible from the train station , on foot or by taxi . It???s near to Lucca???s famous walls and several other attractions . There are several restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood . Our main building bedroom had been recently renovated and was very comfortable . We spent a lot of time there escaping from the heat . Breakfast was good and the staff attentive , especially Alina (?) who remembers from day to day what guests??? preferences are ! A very pleasant hotel in a tranquil part of Lucca . And I forgot to mention another bonus point ??????at lunch time guests are can have a free snack and drink .

We stayed at Ilaria for the 2nd year in a row, for the Lucca Comics, and unfortunately they have not been able to properly help and assist us. They let us know about the car traffic restrictions and thus we choose the train from Pisa (which BTW is a great option) but they miss to inform themselves, and consequently us, about the pedestrian restrictions as well, and they have not bothered to send a map for reaching the hotel from the train station. Moreover, the hotel manager has been very defensive and said that only authorities are messing everything, which is half way true, as via a good communication the hotel must have achieved a much better customer experience 😞

We stayed here for a week in September, and would definitely go back. Our room was spacious, comfortable and really clean, breakfast was excellent and the afternoon snacks and Prosecco very welcome after exploring the lovely town, especially sitting on the peaceful terrace by the potted plants.
From our window we could hear a violinist busking under the archway to the town, the hotel is perfectly situated for restaurants and bars, and the train station isn???t far.
Staff are friendly and efficient and went the extra mile to help us plan a journey when the trains were disrupted.
Highly recommended.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel Ilaria in September 2025. The excellent staff, particularly the front of house staff, made our visit very special. They were welcoming, informative and happy to converse in English and/or Italian as we wished. All the staff we met, including porters, those who looked after our room and the staff in the breakfast room were outstanding in their work and interactions with us. We look forward to visiting Lucca and Hotel Ilaria again. We met a number of people who had the same view and in fact had visited the hotel a number of times over the last few years.
