On a recommendation from a friend, we booked this gorgeous hotel.
Tamara Trambusti welcomed us like a friend and looked after us with such care and warmth during our stay for the week. She was the inspiration and creator of our dinner plans as we managed to eat in some amazing restaurants across Florence.
We had the most amazing room with a view and everyone we encountered at the hotel was lovely, kind and helpful.
Restaurent manager Antonio was funny and warm and looked after us like royalty. Pietro, Lorenzo, Massimo, Alessandra and the Gentleman at poolside restaurant were all amazing and thorough professionals.
Our daily shuttle service in to Florence worked out a treat.
We will certainly come back again and again and also definitely visit as soon as they reopen for Summer.

We have just returned, at long last due to Coronavirus to our retreat and bolt hole which we call our second home, Villa La Massa. It was fantastic to return and see how recent times have changed everyone???s lives and how adaptable people are.
During the winter extensive alterations were completed which saw the additional of some new suites, a dedicated restaurant for lunch and a new pool but sadly the opening was delayed until late July when guests were once again allowed to return to hotels in Italy.
We found superb additions to an already delightful hotel. The original intimacy of La Massa remains but there is now even more to enjoy. The staff, limited in numbers like the number of guests staying were fantastic and continued to maintain the high standards of service we have experienced over many years and repeated visits.
The views of the countryside and banks of the Arno remain undiminished as does the quality of the hotel, excellent food and ambiance.
Sadly, their are restrictions in place regarding faces masks at times that have become part of our everyday lives but it didn???t diminish the experience at all. The spa is currently closed due to the virus but the gym is open and with the new pool and it???s surroundings I didn???t even think about the spa once.
As always the food is exceptional and the chef is always around to chat and will tweak meals with pleasures to meet your needs.
It would be unfair to single out anyone as everyone is working hard but Stefano Venturi the General Manager and Tamara should be congratulated for shaping and guiding his team in these difficult times.
With fingers crossed I hope to return in a month and enjoy the vista again. Florence is starting to get busier as well as tourists slowly return. Attractions are open and in some cases it is advisable to pre book.

We stayed for a few nights in this country escape, just a short drive from Florence. We stayed in one of the new suites in the old lemonaia. We had a small garden just for us, which completed the suite.
The hotel pool and spacious garden allowed all guests to relax, easily keeping social distance.
The restaurant was as lovely as always. The staff made us feel very comfortable and the menu is just as delicious as we remembered from previous stays.

We visited for 10 days in August with our two daughters ages 10 and 13 and had an amazing stay. This hotel has all the benefits and space of a quiet country hotel but is only 15 mins drive from Florence. It is perfectly located for exploring the city, vineyards, hill towns and the coast. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, quiet and spacious. We took full advantage of the facilities including the lovely breakfast with a view of the river, free shuttle to Florence, fitness centre, the new pool and complimentary access to tennis courts at the country club down the road. The hotel staff were outstanding and made a huge effort to make our stay special. One of the highlights of our trip was celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary at Villa La Massa - the staff arranged a vineyard tour and wonderful four-course lunch for us and had a bottle of prosecco waiting in our room when we returned. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel for a family trip to Tuscany - whether you want to relax by the pool, be more active or explore the area it really has something to offer everyone.
