- Explore some of the small towns in the Tuscany region
- Sample wine and enjoy a typical Italian lunch in Chianti
- Visit the UNESCO world heritage site, San Gimignano
Experience a wonderful day in the Tuscan countryside, admiring the best of Siena, San Gimignano and Chianti, sampling the unique flavour of local wines and food. Departing from Florence, our tour will start in San Gimignano; one of the most fascinating examples of medieval towns, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here you’ll have free time to discover the beautiful squares, buildings, churches and alleyways, and have time to shop. Before departing, you can taste the best ice cream in the world from Gelateria Dondoli that has won in the Ice Cream World Championships.
We'll continue to the area of Chianti where you’ll have the chance to explore a Tuscan winery, view the cellars and vineyards before sampling the wine yourself with a light lunch of sliced cold meats, bruschetta and cheese.
You’ll then head to Siena where our local expert guide will lead you through its steep medieval streets, admiring the splendid palaces, the Cathedral, Palazzo Comunale (Municipal Building) and Piazza del Campo where the Palio horse race takes place every year. You’ll finish with a visit to the wonderful Monteriggioni medieval fortress.
“These beautiful small towns are in my opinion the gems of Tuscany. Wandering through the cobbled streets and soaking up the atmosphere is one of my favourite things to do when I'm in Italy, especially with a Gelato in hand!” Isabella Badura, Purchasing Support Executive
