NH Collection Firenze Palazzo Gaddi

Wonderful service, staff is outstanding. The concierge gave me the best advices and the bar is just amazing. Rooms are spacious and the design is fancy but never too much. The view from the terrace is flabbergasting, will definitely stay again here. Lovely!

This is a great hotel (when I booked it, it was called NH Collection Firenze Plaza Gaddi; they seem to be using a different name, still under the NH Collection brand). I chose this hotel because it was near the train station (we did a lot of day-trips leaving from SMN [the train station is just a short walk away]). Another plus was that it was an even shorter walk from the tram (we took the tram from/to the airport - convenient and good price). We arrived early in the morning (most flights from USA arrive early), and unfortunately, our room wasn't ready yet. The gentleman at the reception who checked us in was friendly, and offered terrific ideas of what to do in the meantime. We reserved a "Superior Room," and it was very good. Very good TV channel selection too. There is a turn-down service in the evening when they put out your slippers on a towel next to the bed; they leave a chocolate on your pillow. I liked that it was clean. While the room furniture was a bit older, the hallways, and the entire ground floor are very well kept. The best part of the stay was the breakfast - they seat you, and the buffet is plentiful/abundant! Pastries, fruit, etc. - you name it, they have it. You could also order your eggs from the waitstaff. The waitstaff is very attentive. What was most delightful was that on the day of our departure (31 March), which was Easter Sunday, they put out a beautiful display of traditional Italian foods/pastries at the breakfast. It was so great that they provided guests with an authentic taste of Easter in Italy! Compliments to the chefs, and the marketing/hotel staff for coming up with this great idea. Yes, it's close to the San Lorenzo market. We even got take-out one day (because the market gets so crowded) and brought it back to eat at our hotel room since it was such a short walk. Communication is not a problem for English-speakers - everyone at the ground floor (reception, concierge, restaurant) speak it very well. They're just as courteous to Italian-speaking visitors too. They made my vacation very pleasant. Overall, it's a great place to stay. I would love to visit again in the future when the weather is warmer so that I could sit outdoors for breakfast in their little courtyard.
