About the location
An Aeolian Island adrift from Sicily’s northern shore, mysterious Vulcano is an island well worth unpicking. A favourite of visitors looking for the unexplored, Vulcano’s beautiful volcanic landscape means fantastic hiking, black-sand beaches and natural mud springs. It’s quickly earning its spot on Italy’s ‘volcano trail’; you can reach its peak, Fossa di Vulcano, in around three hours. Vulcano Porto, the main town, is filled with a handful of restaurants and shops, but it’s really Vulcano’s remoteness that is the basis of its appeal – and mystery. It’s not hard to see why the island crops up in Greek myth; according to legend, the Romans named the island after the god Vulcan, believing the smoking volcano to be the chimney of his workshop.

We celebrated our honeymoon with a roadtrip stopping at 5 resorts and this one was by far our favorite.
Food: Pizza - the Neapolitan style pizza is the best we had in our life??? it???s a soft chewy dough that we never left the crust on the plate. The vegetarian restaurant was a great experience as well with most of the items being grown and preserved over the winter on the property. Breakfast is included and does not disappoint.
Pool and Spa: Beautiful pools overlooking all of the islands with great poolside drinks and included sunblock is a nice great experience. Maria their masseuse also gave us the best deep tissue massage we???ve ever had and they have a decent indoor pool spa experience you can lounge around at afterwards or while your partner is getting a massage.
Overall service was fantastic - with Maria in reception and others being very helpful. They also arranged for a shuttle for hike to the trailhead at the volcano.
Room: The room itself is a bit of a mixed bag. We had a beautiful view from our room and it was spacious, our suite even had 2 bathrooms. But this was the biggest opportunity to improve as it was very dated inside in comparison to the rest of the property.
All the same we are trying to come up with an excuse to come back here soon. Does not disappoint!

From the moment the shuttle takes you down the drive to your water's-edge paradise, the staff at Therasia ensure your stay is as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
Welcoming, hospitable and cosseting are words that spring to mind when remembering our stay. Perfection is another!
There's always a couple of happy, helpful ladies at reception and nothing is too much!
As we only speak a 'poco' of Italian, their English was fantastic.
Hate to single anyone out but Martina, Angelica, Maria and the lady with the Prada glasses made our visit and absolute 'start-to-end' pleasure.
Breakfast has lots of local produce and delicacies and the views are to die for.
Rooms all seem to have a view of the sea and most Aeolian islands, the balconies are excellent and everything works so well to say you are on a small island.
Excursions on private boat and renting scooters was all organized for us. Watching a 300lb tuna get landed was a surprise though!
Grazie Mille to everyone!!

A truly luxurious (and very expensive) spa hotel. Lovely rooms (though the electricity didn???t work in ours on arrival and required attention). Comfortable bed and nice bathroom with good towels. Great setting
A couple of nice pools and many places to sit and sunbathe while admiring the view.
Good breakfast with many servers.
Drinks prices are very high: ???3,50 for an espresso, ???15.00 for a glass of (very ordinary) wine for example. On the positive side, the limited contents of the room fridge are complimentary.
It has a Michelin starred restaurant, but this was closed during our visit. Food in the main restaurant was OK.

Gorgeous hotel on Vulcano Island. This is one of the most beautiful hotels and settings we have stayed in. The hotel is surrounded by the beautiful water, volcanoes and landscaping is beautiful. The rooms are spacious, comfortable with beautiful views. Food is very pricey - but it is on a remote island, so understandable. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious. The fine dining restaurant was beautiful, but a little disappointing, as the pre-fixe menu courses did not go well together.
All in all, we would highly recommend this beautiful hotel for a once in a lifetime experience.
