- Complimentary shuttle bus to/from Taormina centre
- Private beach and beach bar
The Mediterranean-style Hotel Caparena provides a comfortable and stylish base for guests who prefer to stay by the beach while still being able to access Taormina via the hotel's complimentary minibus service.
The Hotel Caparena takes its name from Capo della Rena, the sandy cape that borders the Ionian Sea, and is positioned two and a half miles from the historical centre of Taormina. Immersed in a sub-tropical garden are an outdoor/indoor swimming pool and children's pool surrounded by a sunbathing terrace, ideal for spending those long summer days relaxing and reading. In addition, a range of regional and international dishes is available at the restaurant.
For those seeking that something extra, head into the hotel’s Caparena Wellness Club, where you can indulge yourself with the various relaxing treatments and therapies, including the exclusive Citrus Fruit therapy, inspired by the local scents of Sicilian oranges. An underpass is used to reach the private beach (separated from the hotel by a railway line), where a beachside bar serves drinks and snacks and a disco is held at the weekends during high season (open to non guests also).
A haven positioned just outside one of Sicily’s most popular resorts, the Hotel Caparena is a sister hotel of the Villa Diodoro, enjoying the same high standard of quality.
The hotel has 85 rooms (official rating 4 star). Child prices apply to ages 2-12 years.

About the location
Holidays in Taormina marry history and culture to form an unforgettable experience in Italy. It’s perched at the top of Monte Tauro in the foothills of Mount Etna on Sicily’s Eastern coastline, between the cities of Catania and Messina. This ancient town offers visitors a view into the past with a number of elegantly preserved historic treasures, from the grand Greek-Roman Theatre to the equally impressive Palazzo Corvaja, which are just waiting to be discovered.
You don’t have to be a history buff to make the most of everything Taormina has to offer. Alongside the historical sights there are plenty of other attractions to take in. The main street, Corso Umberto, is traffic free and home to an array of shops and restaurants to rival any in the bigger cities.
There are also plenty of seaside activities to dive into thanks to the town’s coastal setting. Adventurous travellers can try watersports like wind surfing and snorkelling, while relaxing scenic boat tours around the gorgeous capes and grottos of the Ionian Sea allow you to explore at your own pace. Alternatively, simply spend long tranquil days on sun soaked shingle beaches.
Transfer time
The hotel is 1 hour 10 minutes from Catania airport. Return private transfers included. To change your transfers or book car hire instead, simply call us once you’ve completed your booking.

We spent 7 days in this beautiful hotel at the end of August in one of the Superior Rooms.
Our room had a fantastic view of the garden and sea beyond on the 1st floor and was really clean and roomy, all perfect for a relaxing holiday. We kept our balcony door open all night so we could hear the sea!
During this difficult year we were unsure on what to expect from our first foreign holiday of 2020, Hotel Caparena went way beyond what we expected All the staff at this hotel are doing an absolutely amazing job of keeping everyone safe but allowing guests to enjoy their holiday.
The food and service in the Beach Restaurant - just one word amazing!
Ignore other reviews about the railway, after a few hours you hardly know it exists. The tunnel underneath is a cute stone walkway down to the beach and the sea
We are now back in a cold UK and wishing we were back there!
Grazie mille to all the staff at this fab hotel for a fantastic holiday, we hope to return next year

I'd never been to Sicily before and fell in love with the town of Taormina. The city in the mountain is amazing, but I loved staying below at this beach resort. The amenities and staff top notch. The food was so good we ate all our dinners on property. I could have stayed another two weeks. Beach, club, view fantastic. Book your room now.

A beautiful location on a subtropical beach. There are plenty of staff to pamper, from the waiters, receptionists and masseurs at the spa. Usually when I stay at a hotel, I would eat out in the evening but not here. The meals are near perfect every time. The weakest part of the catering is that the breakfast is more limited than the other meals but that is relative, because the rest are so varied and wonderful. The coffee seems to vary with who makes it, ranging from acceptable to excellent. I had the lower cost wines with meals and these were adequate to accompany meals. I was able to enjoy floating in the sea in November as well as be able to take a proper swim in its large covered pool. There is a spa which female colleagues raved about. The hotel runs a free shuttle into the town, Taormina, which is wort a visit.

Spent 7 days here in a very nice hotel but unfortunately the service was very poor as well as being located right next to a train track. Not in any photos on website.
The pool was fantastic but we were only allowed there between 9am and 5pm. There is no drinks you can buy alcoholic or even water as there is no bar. The bar in the foyer is unattended and you have to get reception to page the barman. First day we had to ask twice as he did not appear after 15 minutes. Waited 40 mins for our drinks which were roughly double the price outside.
After going thirsty the first day we bought some water back to the hotel where the manager stood with hands on hips to let us know this was unacceptable.
Where we were supposed to buy the water was actually not open.
The beach was only open to hotel guests but when we went there we were charged 3 Euro per towel to sit on the beach. We went to order food to find that 90% of food advertised was unavailable. Not even pizzas in Italy!!
Our 1 and only dinner at the restaurant was terrible and just over 300 Euro for 8 adults and 2 children.
Hard to swallow such poor service with staff wearing bow ties trying to act like a 4 Star hotel but not delivering. Staff did not look happy and some mentioned they were looking for other jobs.
Would not recommend in the month we went. Can't advise on other months.

The rooms are decent, though there could be more furniture in them to make them even more comfortable. Cleanliness is fine, the staff is very nice. It has a wonderful garden. You can reach the beach through a small tunnel. The train goes in front of the hotel, but is not heard at all. Volt disco szombat este, ami hajnalig tartott, csukott ablakokkal nek??nk nem volt zavar??. Very good hotel, very good location.
