About the location
Ragusa (setting of the TV detective show Inspector Montalbano) is one of Sicily’s most photogenic towns, a jumble of baroque buildings sprawled across a hillside in the UNESCO-listed Val di Noto. It’s split into two parts; Ragusa Ibla is the older, more traditional area, while Ragusa Superiore has a more modern feel.
Ragusa Ibla is a warren of atmospheric lanes, which wind down the hillside and open out into sunny piazzas every so often. Look out for the Duomo di San Giorgio, one of the island’s grandest cathedrals, and the Giardino Ibleo, a leafy park with lovely valley views. Head up to Ragusa Superiore and you’ll find another cathedral, plus shops, cafes and photo-worthy views across Ragusa Ibla and the surrounding area.
Ragusa is an ideal base for exploring southern Sicily. Discover the equally beautiful towns of Noto and Modica, head to the beach for the day, or make a trip to stunning Syracuse.

We stayed in a classic garden room for two nights and found it to be quite satisfactory. While the furnishings lacked character, the room was generous in size, bed was comfortable, linens were high quality, and the AC great. The hotel offers a generous breakfast on a pretty terrace. We also appreciated having the ability to access the hotel easily by car and park on the street near the entrance for free.
The hotel location couldn???t be better ??? right below Duomo square and within walking distance of everything, including delicious restaurants. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely Staff and Location, But Serious Sewage Smell Made Me Sick ??? Avoid Room 110

I was so looking forward to staying at this hotel ??? it???s in a charming part of town and the staff were absolutely wonderful. Everyone from check-in was kind, warm, and helpful with tourist tips and luggage.
Unfortunately, my experience with the room itself was terrible. Room 110 is tiny ??? more like a small studio ??? which was fine given European standards. The issue was the overpowering sewage smell coming up from the bathroom sink. The drain was backed up and smelled awful. Because the bathroom is basically part of the sleeping area, the stench filled the entire space.
I immediately told the front desk and they assured me they???d clean and deodorize. When I returned that night, the sink was cleared and smelled better temporarily ??? but by the middle of the night the sewage odor was back. It was so strong I woke up gagging multiple times and even had to go outside for air.
I also developed a serious sinus and respiratory infection within 24 hours. I can???t say for sure if it was caused by this issue, but after sleeping in that environment, I ended up sick for the remainder of my trip to Italy. I spent my next few days in bed on antibiotics and sinus medication.
When I checked out, I told them again about the stench and they acknowledged it sometimes happens due to the hotel???s sewage setup. Given how extreme this was, I was really disappointed they didn???t offer a refund or any compensation ??? especially since my trip was so negatively affected.
I hate to leave a bad review because the hotel itself is charming and the staff were lovely. But for your health and comfort, I???d recommend avoiding room 110, which is on the ground floor outside of the main building. Hopefully they???ll address this issue properly so future guests don???t have to go through what I did.

The front desk was very helpful in assisting us to get to the hotel entrance, and giving us the detailed information on how to get the right place for the photo shot of the Ragusa old town before the sunset. Our room has a great view of the city. There were plenty choices for breakfast. We had a wonderful stay at the hotel.
