- Chic modern décor and spacious accommodation
- 350 yards from the famous white Scala dei Turchi cliffs
- Perfect for couples, families and history lovers
Scala dei Turchi is a charming resort situated only a few minutes from some of Agrigento’s most cherished sites such as, The Valley of the Temples and the Salt Cathedral of Realmonte (an underground church made in the tunnels of a salt mine). It’s not just a coincidence either that the hotel shares its name with the beach it overlooks, with the hotel offering easily accessible routes to the famous marble Turkish steps that cascade into the sea. The resort itself is washed with colours of white and blue echoing the colours of Scala dei Turchi beach and the Mediterranean Sea, respectively.
The message of relaxation resonates throughout the establishment, with all the rooms being spacious featuring modern furnishings and a whole host of facilities like, the Cafe, Lounge Bar, La Terrazza and main restaurant, each utilising the spectacular views to the lush gardens, sea and of course, the Turkish Steps. As if this wasn’t already enough, the resort also has a sizeable swimming pool with Jacuzzi, perfect for those wanting to relax and get stuck into a good book, and perhaps a cocktail.
The hotel has 45 rooms (official rating 4 star).

About the location
Agrigento is one of Sicily’s best known towns, offering visitors a taste of medieval Italy along with roots that delve deeper into the past. Once one of the world’s largest cities, this hilltop settlement is now a modern city with an atmospheric centre, filled with winding alleys and bustling piazzas. Of course, for many the main draw is the nearby Valley of the Temples: a dramatic UNESCO World Heritage site complete with some of the most outstanding remaining Ancient Greek structures found anywhere in the world.
And if that’s not enough to tempt you, Agrigento is also just a few miles from the beach so you can combine ancient history with some down time by the sea. It’s the ideal option for those wanting the best of both worlds – in Agrigento, history and relaxation can be enjoyed in equal measure.

Well it???s all a bit amateurish. The resort is well placed and parking is easy. The rooms are nice, with comfortable beds but no tea or coffee. The WiFi is intermittent and only works in the lounge not the bedroom. The bar seems to be run by the receptionist, however when we asked for a gin and tonic they had no ice or lemon.2 glasses of red wine for 12 euros was steep for a p/t bar when you can get a bottle for 12 euros at a nearby restaurant. Breakfast is below standard and we kept having to ask the attendant staff for things, like plates, milk etc. There seemed to be no intention of monitoring the supply and restocking without being asked. Second day???s breakfast was worse- no fruit, the hot food was not hot as the hot plate was not switched on and the hot milk they had the day before had disappeared. The toaster did not work properly. A couple asked whether they could eat outside and were handed plates and cutlery. There is a nice pool but if you want a pool towel it is 2 euros per towel and you can???t use this at the beach. This hotel has all the structural things to make it really good but is seriously let down by the management and service.

We used this hotel to get some beach time and as a base to visit the Agrigento historical sights (must see), it took us 20 minutes driving time from hotel to get to the Valley of Temples while the beach was a five minute walk but beware very long steep steps down to the beach level.
We had a superior room was was basically two large rooms, the entrance room had the fridge, cupboards and a small table which still left loads of wasted space, clean rooms and direct access to the nice swimming pool.
Breakfast was very good but we found the evening meals too expensive, best use as a treat as cost for two exceeded 100 Euro's but good quality food, there are not many other options within walking distance though, the bar service was a bit hit & miss and during the week no lunches are served.
There are signs that you cannot hang your wet towels/swimsuits etc on the balcony or outside of rooms but the option of a cloths airer being provided by request fell on deaf ears............clearly they do not have sufficient for their guests!
