About the location
Palau is a Sardinian gem: a picturesque harbour town set alongside several splendid north coast beaches. First established by shepherds little more than 100 years ago, the town is now a chic beach resort packed with popular restaurants and surrounded by natural splendour. The heart of the town is partially surrounded by water and features terracotta-coloured lanes overlooked by pretty wrought-iron balconies, with tantalising glimpses of the sea around each corner. Wander past local boutiques and craft workshops, take part in a variety of watersports, and enjoy al fresco dining.
One of the must-do attractions in Palau is the Trenino Verde (Little Green Train) which takes riders high into the otherwise inaccessible hills. This quaint vintage locomotive is straight out of the 1930s, with wooden bench seating and a narrow gauge that makes each journey a true adventure, passing through some of the region’s most spectacular scenery. Other local sights include the dramatic Fortezza di Monte Altura, a 19th-century fortress set high above the town, and the peculiar Roccia dell’Orso rock formations which decorate the natural landscape with intriguing animal-shaped boulders, just a few miles from Palau’s centre.

This hotel was a great find. It is in a beautiful location by the sea and you feel very close to nature, from the tortoises wandering the grounds, to the dolphins we saw whilst on a trip in the hotels lovely boat. The staff are excellent and very friendly, the food was delicious, and we felt very safe with all the Covid rules in place. Whilst the hotel is very comfortable, the decor in the bedrooms is very dated, and the bar area is in need of refurbishment. The hotel spa was excellent and the hot stone massage was very relaxing.

Had a fantastic holiday at this hotel. It is in beautiful surroundings and a beautiful hotel. It is all low rise and spread across the area so you feel you have lots of space. The location is far enough away from a town that it is very peaceful and safe, but also close enough by car or taxi to go to a number of restaurants in the closest town.
Food is exceptionally good Including superb fish in the restaurant and the most amazing pizza!
Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and we had fantastic service. It is very clean, well spaced out and the staff really care about their standards and managing Covid.
Loved our room - junior suite with the sea view. Lots of space for 2 with lots of luggage and 2 bathrooms.
The sea is incredibly clear and you can sea fish close to the beach.
The views of the sea, coast and islands is beautiful.
We definitely want to go back soon!

We enjoyed the hotel setting, the great food and the outstanding service very much! Rooms could use a little upgrade - however, we will always look back on this honeymoon as the perfect 10 days to relax! Rent a car and venture out (vineyards, Capo Testa, ...), join one of the hotel???s boat trips to the archipelago or just find your secluded spot on the cliff of the hotel.
