- Perfect location for relaxing amongst vineyards and olive groves
- Located a short drive from Oliena with walking and bike trails
The Hotel Su Gologone is just a short drive east of Oliena and is well-placed for trips into the mountains where a great variety of wildlife can be seen. Oliena lies amidst vineyards, almond and olive groves overlooking the River Cedrino valley, and spreads along the side of the Corrasi mountain. Oliena is well known for its craftwork, especially in gold filigree and red coral and finely embroidered shawls, as well as for producing olives, excellent wine and exquisite cheeses.
The Hotel Su Gologone is a charming hotel and has acquired a reputation for its excellent cuisine, such as the lunchtime barbecue, cooked on an open fire and the traditionally made bread cooked in the bread oven. The terraces are the perfect place to unwind and join in activities such as yoga and star gazing or simply to sample the different Sardinian grappas.
Built in a typical local style, the accommodation is in five linked buildings connected by a series of steps. Each guest room is unique, many featuring exquisite furniture, tapestries and fantastic colour schemes. A spring-fed swimming pool, outdoor whirlpool, an 18-hole mini-golf course and a tennis court are set in the lovely gardens.
The hotel also holds craft workshops and organised trips by four-wheel drive into the Barbagia mountains.
The hotel has 68 rooms (official rating 4 star). Citalia does not accept children at this hotel, however this is not an adult-only property.
Car hire is reccomended for this hotel.

About the location
Set at the foot of the breathtaking Mount Corrasi, Oliena is a pretty tangle of whitewashed streets and olive groves. Having recently been awarded the prestigious Orange Flag award, a title that recognises its historic and cultural importance, Oliena presents visitors with a tapestry of historical intrigue and traditional rural charm.
The Maddelana district of the town is the most appealing section, offering an intricate maze of twisting alleyways and tranquil courtyards, all painted in a cool white. Spending time getting lost in the picturesque streets is part of the fun, and you might just stumble upon one of the town’s local cafes or restaurants where you can stop for a welcome refreshment.
Oliena is also rich in folklore and traditional Italian culture, having originated from a Nuragic settlement. Today, wine is one of the town’s main exports, with the Nepente variety being praised by connoisseurs. Cuisine is generally rustic, with dishes often flavoured with the local Sardinian pecorino cheese.
If you want to explore further afield, you will find lots to see and do within just a short drive or hike. Cooling off is easy thanks to the Sorgenti Su Gologone spring – a beautiful, naturally fed spring with incredibly clear water and a parkland setting, plus there are also several caves close to the town that are open for exploration. The nearby city of Nuoro boasts plenty more attractions, including numerous museums.

First, I'd like to point out how this hotel handles unwanted touching cases, as I read the reviews when we were already there. It's shameful and unprofessional to treat an accusation of sexual harassment so lightly. Check the safety review, as a woman claimed she experienced unwanted touching from a male staff. And the owner's answer was gaslight - it didn't happen like that. Without proper investigation, it was just dismissed because it was about an old time employee. I'm sorry this happened and I hope it won't happen again. I hope measures are taken because it is NOT EVER ok to touch someone without their approval, even if she was in 'danger' of being soaked.
As for my experience, the hotel is expensive for nothing. Mini golf was under water.
Restaurant seated guests in close proximity, there could have been more distance. The menu is meat (pork, lamb) and cooked veggies always in an olive oil soup. Food also generally expensive for no reason.

We stayed at this charming hotel for one night and got a competitive rate due to off season. I enjoyed some of the best cocktails I have ever tried, even though they were quite expensive. I can recommend the ???chocolate and ginger mojito???!!! We also enjoyed eating in the well known restaurant with an open fire.
The staff was extremely accommodating and our room was great. Although the pool is very big and suitable for keen swimmers, this part of the hotel seems slightly outdated. We went to the river which is only a 3minute drive away and enjoyed a wonderful walk with exquisite views.
I can highly recommend a stay at this hotel if you are passing.

If you crave peace and quiet, if you love old fashioned service from friendly staff and traditional food in wonderful surroundings, then this hotel is for you.
Set at the foot of Supra Monte with views over the valley, this is an enchanting place to stay.
Eating breakfast overlooking the beautiful pool, on across the valley to the mountains was amazing.
We stayed in the country suite which gives you the choice of sleeping out under the stars or inside with a beautifully designed room.
So for a unique experience, I couldn???t recommend this more highly.
Enjoy.

Su Gologone needs to keep up with sustainability issues. There are so many areas where the hotel can show a greener approach to hosting its customers. For example, my drink had a plastic straw which in most luxury hotels are now ditched. The water for the pool was wasted (in the smaller one), there could be a sensor that activates it when people use it. So much can be done to generate greener energy - solar panels, for example. In Sardinia its often warm and sunny so it'd be a great investment! Su Gologone is behind many other European hotels in terms of sustainability, which is really upsetting particularly now that we face so many challenges related to climate change! Also, the building needs some work to modernise it without impacting the traditional character which is one of the strengths of the hotel. Food is far too expensive.
Overall, I think the quality of the experience in Su Gologone does not match the price being too high.

This was our second hotel in Sardinia. It is not a bad hotel, but very expensive and the value for money is just off. Our room was small but ok with a nice little balcony and the staff at the reception desk really friendly. So far the good points.
The hotel is very busy and seems to be a bit run down. The seats at the pool were a bit damaged, the grass is ill kept and repears are done in such a way that some just make it seem worse.
The worst thing are the prices. We had a drink at one of their bars. I included the price list as pictures. Granted, you do get some snacks, but still the drinks are way overpriced compared to any other place in Sardinia. Same goed for the food in the restaurant. We ate there one night and opted to drive to Cala Gonone for the rest of our 3 night stay. Room prices are for sure not the cheapest as well.
