About the location
Visible for miles around, Ostuni is a gleaming tumble of painted buildings and dramatic brick-built palaces, perched almost entirely on a steep hilltop. Ostuni’s whitewashed centro storico lends the town its second name as the ‘White City’ of Puglia, and there are few places as atmospheric found anywhere else in the region. Most visits begin with a walk through the old town, towards the mighty duomo towering high above the Puglian plains. It’s a steep ascent, but one that’ll take you through some of the most magical of Ostuni’s streets: think white-walled passages with uneven floors and pretty cafes tucked into sheltered courtyards. The views at the top are well worth the climb, and the beautiful 15th-century cathedral with its 24-pane rose window is quite a sight, too.
The town’s bar and restaurant scene is richly authentic, with quaint trattorie serving local favourites such as orecchiette – a small, ear-shaped pasta that’s generally eaten with vegetable-based sauces and often served alongside a handsome house red. For true wine connoisseurs, one of the local wine tours is a must-do, taking visitors into some of the region’s finest wineries.

Minimalist and boutique style. Common areas didn't appear to have air conditioning but rooms did thankfully.
Very nice, well appointed, large rooms and bathrooms but no bath in ours.

Tea making facilities. Fridge. Safe. Plenty of storage. Plasma TV on wall. Good lighting and mirrors.
Lovely staff. Fabulous breakfast spread. Probably the best ever!
Rooftop restaurant also served good food and with a fabulous view of Ostuni as a backdrop.
Best rooms we have ever had for soundproofing. Heard nothing from adjoining rooms or outside but we weren't road facing.
Great location as it was just a short walk to the centre of town.
We would return in a heartbeat.

We spent five nights in suite accommodation at Monte Sarago and several other family members stayed in this hotel too. Our experience from the moment we arrived until we left was absolutely perfect. The staff were warm and accommodating. On the night we arrived after 10.30 p.m. on our flight from Ireland, the dining room staff welcomed us in the dining room with a super selection of freshly cooked pizzas. The facilities at the hotel are all top class. I would highly recommend The Monte Sarago and we would all definitely return in the future.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel in Ostuni. It is less than five minutes from the old town which was perfect for our evenings. During the day we used it as our spot to do day trips from and it was perfect for this. This hotel had the best breakfast out of the five hotels we stayed at in Italy. Off the charts delicious!! We stayed in a villa with a beautiful view and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
