About the location
Holidays in Stresa take you to one of the prettiest locations in the
Italian Lakes, with the elegant town perched on the western shore of Lake Maggiore where soaring mountains form a photogenic backdrop.
Stresa has been here for at least a thousand years and the town is peppered with historic buildings, from medieval churches to Renaissance villas. Its cobbled streets are full of pavement cafés and boutique shops, while the surrounding area is renowned for its opulent lakeside palaces and ornamental gardens.
The town is a handy hopping-on point for many ferries and boat trips which sail up and down Lake Maggiore, offering a relaxing way to enjoy the scenery and visit the other towns and villages around this 65km-long lake. For panoramic views of Lake Maggiore and the mountain peaks beyond, Stresa’s cable car climbs from the lakeside to the top of Mount Mottarone, taking you nearly 1,300 metres above the town.

We did not stay in the hotel, only went for dinner but will not come back. The food is overpriced and felt ???mass produced??? - the type and quality of food you would expect at an ???all you can eat??? buffet. Staff was also not that friendly. They didn???t seem overly excited having us there. Choose a different place for dinner.

We attended the Sky Bar for a few early evening drinks with another couple having visited 5 years prior. It's till absolutely beautiful, 360 degree views of Lake Maggiore and a long list of delicious drinks to enjoy with Aperitivo. Staff were friendly and accommodating, prices similar to any City Sky Bar. Would highly recommend for a special occasion (try to book if possible).

Just two negative points to mention: the prices in the sky bar are way too high, 16 ??? for a cocktail is just over the top.
Also the handeling of the breakfast during corona is not optimal. It makes people wait way too long when the staff has to prepare a plate for every guest at the buffet. Might have been better to stay with an a la carte breakfast.

The hotel has a fantastic swimming pool in front of the lake with accurate staff. Only disadvantage is that the hotel allows the kindergarten behavior of reserving sun beds with towels :-(. You do not expect that in such a place. Probably it has to do with the very disorganized breakfast every morning. Our waiting time on average was 20 minutes at least. This logistical nightmare is related to how the hotel deals with the COVID regulations of course. We did see however other hotels that were more creative in solving this. After a complaint we were offered a free room service breakfast, which was nice and on time in our room. The room we had was nice looking. It has everything you need and an ingenious shower. Unfortunately the hotel is noisy. You hear stumbling in other rooms in the morning especially when the cleaning service is near your room. These ladies produce the sound of a construction crew. On the roof of the hotel there is a sky bar with a large Jacuzzi and a fabulous view on the lake. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
