- Boutique, family-run villa
- Swimming pool set in acres of peaceful gardens
- Set in a residential area within easy reach of Sorrento and Pompeii
Set among 10 acres of gardens and orchards just outside Sorrento, Villa Don Camillo is an ideal boutique hotel retreat.
The villa is family run and features just seven bedrooms, so it’s got the feel of staying with friends or family. Housed inside a 17th-century aristocratic villa, each room at the Villa Don Camillo is individually styled, with boutique-style furnishings.
Outside, the orchards wrap around a decked swimming pool, while shaded sofas are the perfect places to curl up with book and a glass of local wine. There’s also an al fresco dining area for supper, which can be decorated for birthdays, special occasions or wedding receptions.
In terms of the location, you’re in Sant’Agnello, a residential area of Sorrento that offers a more authentic Italian experience – neighbourhood trattorias are filled with Sorrentine families and food markets bustle with locals picking up fresh ingredients for dinner.
A stroll into the centre of Sorrento takes around 45 minutes or you can catch a local train, which will take you five minutes.
“As soon as I walked in, the smell of the lemon trees that grow in the garden hit me, and I knew I was entering a totally different property from all the ones I’ve seen before. The owners were so warm and welcoming – it felt just like being at home with family.” Lisian Gianni, Italy Expert
The hotel has 7 rooms (official rating 4 star).

Location was great. 10 minutes walk to the train station but far enough out of the hustle of Sorrento. Lovely breakfasts with freshly baked breads and beautiful omelettes. Outstanding chef. Try their tasting menu! Very nice, family owned boutique hotel. With only 7 bedrooms it felt like a private villa.

Stay Away! We booked this as we were looking forward to a quiet retreat with great food. On the day of our arrival they were hosting a large party for outside guests. We arrived at 2pm to blasting music that went well into the night. Earlier that same night we tried to go to the advertised on site restaurant and were told the kitchen was closed to hotel guests because of that same party. After expressing our disappointment, as it had been a long day of traveling and no easily accesible local options, they reluctantly served us a meal they had on hand. No menus were offered. We were told that going forward everything would be back to normal and available to enjoy as expected. The next night we again went to the same restaurant on site and were told the kitchen was closed. That they had given the staff the night off. So much for the fine dining experience we were expecting. A few days later they hosted yet another party to outside guests which again had loud music that lasted into the early am hours with children screaming outside our windows and door. Not to mention both times the guests of those parties made us feel uncomfortable as we were made to feel like we were outsiders intruding on their affairs. In our opinion, they need to decide if they want to be a hotel or a catering hall. Now we have to mention the issues with the Air Conditioning and WiFi, or lack there of. Both of my children have medical issues that require accessibility to air conditioning as a means to cool down as needed to prevent emergency situations. My travel agent called ahead, speaking to the manager, confirming there was adequate AC and she was assured it wouldn't be a problem. Upon arrival the room couldn't be cooled below 78.8 degrees F with no air circulation, no air movement at all. After being out in the extreme heat they were experiencing, 78 with no air movement feels suffocating and you continue to sweat. If you couldn't accommodate our needs, why lie? We were moved to another room which felt like a claustrophobic cave but had a different type of ac unit they insisted would do the job. It didn't. After moving all of our belongings yet again, the room was actually warmer. Late that night we called the staff on hand, since there is no front desk or management most of the day, and they brought a standing cooling humidifier to the room that was extremely loud and required water changes every few hours. Barely lowering the temperature but at least it gave some cooler air movement. The wifi is spotty at best. The safe provided in the 2nd room was tiny and not bolted down, leaving it useless. The grounds and the pool were nice and when we did finally get a meal the food was very good. With that being said it was a complete disappointment regardless.

Spent 3 nights at this wonderful hidden gem in Sant'Agnello. Giulia and staff couldn't be more helpful and generous. The grounds are beautiful with lemon and orange trees and fabulous roses everywhere. Our room was a separate little unit in the middle of the grounds. Clean and modern with a great shower and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was a plentiful buffet with eggs to order and coffee/tea etc. The pool wasn't open but being renovated so I am sure it will be fabulous once open later in June. Every night we had an incredible dinner and on our final night a tasting menu which was some of the best food I've eaten in Italy in the last 10 years. Honestly couldn't ask for a more relaxing and enjoyable stay.
