During these difficult times we were delighted to get any holiday, especially in our favourite destination, Sorrento is magical.
The hotel was suffering like everywhere else, probably at around 50% capacity, not good for business but delightful when you have the poolside virtually to yourself. We had chosen half-board and enjoyed excellent service as the restaurant operated well below capacity. Wearing a mask when moving around isn???t ideal but was a small price to pay yo enjoy this lovely venue.

Although not in the central area, it's only a 10 minute walk to get there. Otherwise perfectly placed on the clifftop looking across the Bay of Naples. Lovely terrace in front, great breakfast setting (great pastry selection), and a lift down to the private swimming area. Unfortunately there was little atmosphere as there were so few guests due to the pandemic (and it was mid-October). Although I was upgraded on arrival to a second floor room, it was quite small (standard room I guess) and situated to the side of the hotel. Given there were very few guests, I was a little disappointed to not have a front-facing sea-view room (there were clearly plenty available). Had they done that I would have given a 5-star review :)

We spent 2 weeks here in September 2020. The location is fantastic, with the terraces and restaurant overlooking the Bay of Naples. It is walking distance to the centre of Sorrento. The hotel was amazing, well-appointed although there weren't many guests there during our stay (read - the current difficult world situation).
There is a lovely pool and a bathing platform with a view of Vesuvius.
Food was excellent, staff attentive and helpful - special thanks to Giovanni and Luigi and their teams and Angela and the team at the reception. They were professional, friendly and made our stay even more pleasant.
Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy, I loved the paintings scattered around the hotel and enjoyed admiring them!
The sea water was crystal clear and there's a protected swimming area.
Sorrento was an interesting town, with lots of boutique shops and places to eat and is very picturesque. We got some bargains (Italian leather is very good value for money and high quality). Trips to the historic sites, Capri and Positano are easy by ferry/train.
I would very happily return! Many thanks!

We spent two wonderful nights in this beautiful hotel on the Amalfi Coast.
It was exactly what we had dreamt and we really enjoyed our staying.
The breakfast is really good and offer a big variety. We were so impressed in how they managed to deal with the "pandemic situation" and still offer a really good breakfast following all the rules and precautions.
The view is breathtaking facing the Vesuvio Vulcan.
The access to the sea is top! And the sea itself it's wonderful.
The staff is really polite and available to help. We really appreciated the kindness of the receptionists as now a days is unfortunately not so common.
We had stayed in a standard room and the beds are very comfy and we really appreciated the room cleaning, comfort and its balcony.
Thanks Grand Hotel Riviera, we felt completely recharged after our staying in your paradise.
We will definitely come back!
Two little tips which we think will make Grand Hotel Riviera even better:
1) The coffee and the cappuccino should be upgraded, especially because we are in Napoli!
2) You should tell the guests in advance that the fresh pressed orange juice is not included in the breakfast fee.
Thank you again so much and see you soon!

We have just had a great week at this hotel and would highly recommend. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were staying half board and were able to change our evening meal to lunch time which really suited us when we didn???t want to leave the beach and wanted to be in town of an evening. The food choice for us as vegetarians was very good and we felt very catered for. The service in the restaurant was also very good. Breakfast is being delivered differently due to COVID but personally I found that the safest, most hygienic approach and I never waited long. Choice was great for is and anyone who loves pastries, fresh fruit and omelettes to order would be very happy.
The rooms are very clean, ours was moderate in size but what we paid for and we liked it.
Location is great as only a short and pleasant walk to town.
Best bit of all is the beach deck. We didn???t use the pool once which is unusual for us but the sea is so lovely and the views are great.
Would return and would recommend.
