La Residenza

Everything was perfect. We were upgraded to a lovely suite with a large balcony. Our room was beautifully appointed with a very nice bathroom and plenty of space, The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to the many shops and restaurants. The lobby is gorgeous, breakfast had plenty of options and was in a lovey location in the lobby. My only complaint is for me the pool water was too cold- but we were there in October. The staff were very attentive. Our room was a little stuffy and we were told that the AC was off for the season. I found it was cool enough to sleep with the doors open. Only issue with that was I was unable to figure out how to shut the balcony lights off since the drapes were open to allow the cool air in. I asked the front desk where the light switch was and they said they would have to do it. I also asked if the fan part of the AC system could be turned on. Something was lost in translation as I would have never expected what happened next. A man came to our room and removed all the bulbs from the outdoor light fixtures so we would not be disturbed by the lights. Also a free standing fan was brought in so we could get air movement. That was the most service I have ever had in a hotel!

Beautiful hotel, in so many ways. They helped arrange for our larger bags to be taken from the ferry to the hotel (18 Euro/bag), and they were waiting for us when we arrived. We arrived early (around noon) and our room, a junior suite, was ready after we had finished lunch at the restaurant. Check-in was fast and easy. The lobby area is quite large and beautifully decorated with a view out to the pool. The location is also excellent, just off several of the main shopping streets and near one of the gardens. The junior suite is like two room combined with a very comfortable bed, a chair, small couch, walk-in closet with a safe, small refrigerator, and a TV built into a mirror (so invisible when not on). We had 3 balconies off each window with spectacular views of the sea. (We were on the third floor, so lower rooms might not have as nice a view.) The bathroom was elegant with a dual shower and dual sinks. At night, the window shutters would close by the push of a button. If we allowed for the turn-down service, the maid would close all the shutters. Breakfast was included, and it was excellent. A large amount of self-service items (cereal, fruit, yogurt, breads, cakes, etc.). One could also order eggs made to order, which in our opinion is better than the scrambled eggs sitting in a warmer. Finally, even the entrance is beautiful. We rarely left the hotel without someone taking a picture of the entrance to the hotel. It is beautiful. Excellent service. Beautiful hotel, Very comfortable lobby. Spacious, beautiful, comfortable room.
