About the location
Amalfi is often described as the crown jewel of the spectacular Neapolitan Riviera and quite rightly so: set beneath the majestic peak of Monte Cerreto, Amalfi’s colourful jumble of pastel-shaded buildings and sandy beachfront offers the best of Italy in one compact package.
Reserved purely as a retreat for the upper classes in the 1920s, this picturesque seaside town is now a bustling haven and a great choice for holidaymakers. For many, the town’s historic cathedral is at the top of the list when it comes to sightseeing and is well worth the 62-step climb from the Piazza Duomo. With an impressive 11th-century campanile and a stunning interior adorned with intricate artworks by Andrea dell'Asta, this duomo is one of the most remarkable buildings found along the Amalfi Coast. Often overshadowed by the cathedral, the bustling piazza down below acts as a great centre point for the town and is the perfect place to stop for a coffee in a pavement cafe.
At the very front of Amalfi lies the harbour and beachfront – an area that becomes increasingly vibrant as summer sets in. The beach is small but perfectly formed and ideal for a spot of sunbathing, while the pretty beachfront promenade acts as a gateway to numerous restaurants and bars. Here, the staple cuisine is net-fresh seafood, often incorporated into classic pasta dishes. If you fancy something sweeter, then the local pasticciotti pastries filled with cream and fruit are delicious.
During a holiday to Amalfi, it’s also easy to hop along the coast to one of the other beautiful seaside towns, thanks to a network of easy-to-use bus and ferry connections. Spend an afternoon exploring the historic centre of Salerno or arrive by boat in Positano’s famously pretty port.

Stayed here 2 nights. Got a large room facing the Mediterranean Sea. Great view. A bit hard to find the hotel.. Had to ask around before someone showed us the steep 30 to 35 steps to reach the hotel. From the outside hotel is very run down and needs a lot of maintenance. But it has been refurbished and the room we got was large with quirky retro fittings and colours. Comfortable and clean. Breakfast adequate. Staff very attentive. Asked if they had Soya milk which they did not. But next morning at breakfast there was soya milk on the table. Thank you for this.
Value for money. Ok for a good night's sleep.

We stayed at this hotel in May 2019. It is kind of hard to find, so we really had to ask around and still got lost. But we found the hotel, check in was really quick. It is a family owned hotel and everyone is really nice. Breakfast was average, but this hotel is surrounded by so many restaurants and so close to the ferry. Staying in amalfi town made it easy to travel to positano and other excursions. The room was nice and large, AC worked really well. Wifi was excellent. I wish the shower was a little bit bigger. No iron on site, so if you need to iron your clothes you need pay for dry cleaning. But beautiful tiles all over hotel.

My mum and I stayed here and although we initially thought our room was small, it quickly became our home for 10 nights and we did not want to leave. We had a small but fantastic shower, a fridge and a balcony overlooking the front. (The balcony was quite small because of the air conditioning box but the air conditioning was excellent so we didn???t mind the balcony size being compromised). Breakfast was fantastic! It is a buffet with cornflakes, eggs, tomatoes, fruit, yoghurt, croissants and fantastic crusty rolls. There is a machine for orange juice and another one for hot drinks.
Bedding and towels are changed every day. All the staff are friendly and our stay was brilliant. We loved it.

We booked a packaged trip and it included a stay at the Hotel for 3 nights. We don???t know what we paid for the specific hotel so it???s hard to comment on value. The check-in process was disruptive, as when we arrived we did not have rooms for our first nights. They moved us to another hotel not far away but very disruptive to our travels. They also ignored all website and email communication. They did provide wine in our rooms as an apology to the disruption. The location of this hotel to the ferry, the train station, the solid downtown square is perfect. The accommodations were comfortable and the breakfast nice and convenient.
