About the location
Amalfi is often described as the crown jewel of the spectacular Neapolitan Riviera and quite rightly so: set beneath the majestic peak of Monte Cerreto, Amalfi’s colourful jumble of pastel-shaded buildings and sandy beachfront offers the best of Italy in one compact package.
Reserved purely as a retreat for the upper classes in the 1920s, this picturesque seaside town is now a bustling haven and a great choice for holidaymakers. For many, the town’s historic cathedral is at the top of the list when it comes to sightseeing and is well worth the 62-step climb from the Piazza Duomo. With an impressive 11th-century campanile and a stunning interior adorned with intricate artworks by Andrea dell'Asta, this duomo is one of the most remarkable buildings found along the Amalfi Coast. Often overshadowed by the cathedral, the bustling piazza down below acts as a great centre point for the town and is the perfect place to stop for a coffee in a pavement cafe.
At the very front of Amalfi lies the harbour and beachfront – an area that becomes increasingly vibrant as summer sets in. The beach is small but perfectly formed and ideal for a spot of sunbathing, while the pretty beachfront promenade acts as a gateway to numerous restaurants and bars. Here, the staple cuisine is net-fresh seafood, often incorporated into classic pasta dishes. If you fancy something sweeter, then the local pasticciotti pastries filled with cream and fruit are delicious.
During a holiday to Amalfi, it’s also easy to hop along the coast to one of the other beautiful seaside towns, thanks to a network of easy-to-use bus and ferry connections. Spend an afternoon exploring the historic centre of Salerno or arrive by boat in Positano’s famously pretty port.

My wife and I loved every minute of our time at Hotel Marina Riviera ! We were fortunate enough to spend six nights in one of their incredibly spacious suites (room 79).
The breakfast was top notch. Views were incredible, and hospitality was on point. The welcome drinks were a welcome added touch.
You???re just a short walk of <5 minutes to the main beach in Amalfi, but separate so you aren???t getting as much foot traffic as some of the other hotels.
The pool deck was also awesome and the service was attentive and quick. There were top notch views from the deck as well which were also great to just sit back and soak in.
I would 100% come back again and hope to do so some day soon.

We???re staying here for four nights while we explore the Amalfi coast. It???s a fab hotel if you want a central Amalfi location, views and great service. In my mind however it is over-priced for what it is.
We found finding the hotel quite tricky - it is literally on the road on a bend.
The hotel itself is quite basic. We are in a standard room and it is fine - comfy bed and good air con. The reception staff explained everything when we arrived, but there???s no book in the room to remind you of things like facilities and breakfast times. There is no full-length mirror and there are itchy blankets instead of proper duvets. Nothing deal-breaking but certainly no ???wow??? factor (except the view!)
Sitting on the terrace for breakfast is a highlight, but I???d probably prefer to eat somewhere else - the coffee and buffet are average and I really resent having to pay extra for a fresh egg or omelette.
The staff are all super-helpful and have already helped us find a dinner reservation at short notice. I???d recommend having a drink in the bar over-looking the water - they served lovely snacks and made me a great non-alcoholic cocktail.
Overall, I???d only recommend staying here if you really want to be in central Amalfi. If I were to do it again, I???d probably stay further out and look for something a bit more special.

We are 2 nights into a 4 night stay at Hotel Marina Riviera and so far it has been absolutely fantastic and one of the top hotels we???ve ever stayed in! We arrived having had some issues with the third party company we booked with and the original room we booked had been changed, we explained this to the staff on arrival and they went above and beyond to accommodate and we are staying in the most beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the bay of Amalfi- we can???t thank you enough! The staff on Reception were incredible and service has been faultless - all staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The room is just stunning as are all areas of the hotel. The breakfast is great and again the staff are very attentive. The rooftop pool is perfect with plenty sunbeds to chose from- just what you need! The location of the hotel is excellent and it???s only a short walk to the restaurants and cafes. We already don???t want to leave this amazing hotel and will definitely be back... Thank you so much!
