Il Parrucchiano restaurant in Sorrento is a beautiful place to dine, either indoors or alfresco amongst the lemon trees and fairy lights that are lit at night creating a truly magical surrounding! There is a very extensive menu with many dishes to choose from, all freshly made. I would highly recommend the Cannelloni which was actually invented there; the owners will be more than happy to tell you the story!

Excursions

Add an excursion to make the most of your holiday.

Make the selection when you are booking either online or with one of destination experts.

Please note excursions operate seasonally.

Amalfi Drive

The famous Amalfi Drive is considered one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Europe. It starts in the hills behind Piano di Sorrento and stretches all the way to Vietri sul Mare, a distance of some 50 kilometres. Our guided, scenic coach tour takes you very gently, in air-conditioned comfort, along this clifftop road.

The first stop is a point above Positano for a panoramic view of this picturesque village. Travelling through the villages of Praiano, Furore and Conca dei Marini, we continue on to Amalfi itself, with free time for a wander through its narrow cobbled streets.

The cathedral dedicated to St Andrew is just one of the main sights in this pretty seaside resort. Winding again uphill, you visit the tranquil, hilltop village of Ravello, home of the Villa Rufolo. Here, Richard Wagner wrote 'The Parsifal' and every year, in his memory, the village of Ravello hosts a musical concert in the spectacular Rufolo gardens. The view from Ravello's picture-postcard piazza is truly breathtaking.

The coach excursion stops for free time in Amalfi and Ravello only and not in Positano. Please note the return journey by coach is via an alternative route and not the coastal road, as per the Select Amalfi. This is due to traffic restrictions for larger forms of transport.

Optional extras/entrance fees: Amalfi Cathedral 3 Euros. Amalfi Boat Trip 10 Euros. Villa Rufolo 5 Euros. Ravello Church 2 Euros.

Operates Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays (without lunch), plus Thursdays (with lunch) (subject to minimum numbers)
Duration: Full Day
From: £34

Cassino is a small town between Naples and Rome. The Benedictine Abbey, built on a hill above the town ('Monte Cassino'), was bombed and totally destroyed in an infamous battle during the Second World War. It has since been rebuilt to its original style, and is still in use as a Benedictine Abbey. A guided tour of the abbey brings to light the changes made during the renovation.

We then visit the British War Cemetery where there are 4,200 graves, beautifully kept. After lunch we pay a visit to the World War ll museum, in the town of Cassino, which offers different exhibitions commemorating those who lost their life in the battle. Cover knees and shoulders for the Abbey.

Entrance fees: War Museum 10 Euros.

Paestum & Salerno

A pleasant drive south along the 'Autostrada de Sole' brings you to Salerno, where a short stop is made to explore part of the city and the cathedral. Continuing south, we reach the site of Paestum, where one of the best preserved Greek Temples in Italy is located - The Temple of Neptune (5th century BC). Our local guide gives a walking tour of the site, including the three temples, the ruins of the city itself and a very interesting museum, housing the treasures found in the excavations of the area. The land here is very flat and fertile, which is why the local farmers choose to graze the renowned 'bufala' cattle - the area around Paestum is reputed to produce the best Mozzarella di Bufala in Italy.

Cover knees and shoulders for the cathedral.

Compulsory entrance fees: Temples 6 Euros. Museum 4.50 Euros.

Operates Tuesdays (subject to minimum numbers)
Departure: Approx. 8am

Capri Day & Night

A chance to see this beautiful island without the hoards of day trippers. Capri by night is a totally different creature, once the last public ferry to Sorrento leaves at 7pm, the island itself comes alive. Stroll through the pretty streets, soaking up the relaxed evening atmosphere usually reserved for residents of the island and the worlds 'Glitterati'. For our journey back to Sorrento, we charter a private boat - the perfect end to a lovely evening!

Operates: Wednesdays (subject to minimum numbers)
Departure: Approx. 3pm
Duration: Late Afternoon/ Early Evening
From: £99

Ischia (Spa or Gardens)

We cross the bay by hydrofoil to Ischia, the largest island in the Bay of Naples, also known as the 'Green Isle'. A volcanic island (the volcano is now extinct); the vegetation is very rich and varied. The island is a famous health resort due to its many natural thermal spas (terme) and also offers superb, golden, sandy beaches - the only beaches of their kind in the Bay of Naples. Take your swimsuit, towels and bathing caps (yes, bathing caps!) with you if you wish to experience the health-giving properties of the thermal waters as the tour includes a stop at one of the spas. If you prefer to stay dry, you may choose instead to visit the famous Mortella Gardens, a botanical garden of Eden created by Lord & Lady Walton in the early 1900s.

Swimwear, towel and swimming cap are needed if visiting thermal spas - may be hired for approx. 2 Euros each.

Optional extras: Spa - Swimming Cap 1 Euro. Towel Hire 1 Euro. Bath Robe Hire 2 Euros. Locker 2 Euros. Flip Flops 4 Euros.

Compulsory entrance fees (approx.): Thermal Spa Baths 14 Euros or Gardens 12 Euros.

Operates Thursdays (subject to minimum numbers)
Departure: Approx. 8.40am

Rome

An opportunity not to be missed; a chance to visit the ancient and unique 'Eternal City' of Rome. It is impossible to see all that this incredible capital city has to offer in a day, even a weekend is not long enough, but this excursion will still enable you to see the main sights and should be considered as a 'taste' of Rome. It includes a guided coach tour of the city, carefully planned to include the most well known sights - the huge Vittorio Emmanuel Monument, the Forum, Piazza Venezia and many more famous buildings and monuments that adorn the city. The main highlight is, of course, St Peter's and the Vatican City, where you will have free time to visit the breathtaking Basilica and the Vatican Museums. A whistle-stop visit to the Colosseum finishes off a busy, yet unforgettable day!

Dinner is included. This is not provided whilst in Rome, but during a comfort stop on the return journey. Cover knees and shoulders for Vatican.

Packed lunch: Your hotel will provide this in lieu of evening meal if you are on half board basis.
