Italy is a diverse and captivating country, home to some of world's most impressive historic sites, stunning scenery and delicious cuisine. So who better to show you around than our favourite Italian chef, Gennaro Contaldo.

Born on the Amalfi Coast, Italy was Gennaro's home for 20 years before he moved to England in 1969, and despite living in the UK for many years, Gennaro has lost none of his passion for his homeland.

A familiar face on British television, Gennaro has appeared on programmes such as Saturday Kitchen, Two Greedy Italians and many of his protégé, Jamie Oliver's cookery shows. Over the next year we'll be working with him to bring you his recommendations, firsthand knowledge and love for all things Italy.

Each month you can read an article written by Gennaro, sharing his knowledge to help make your next holiday to Italy as authentic and memorable as possible. Plus, you can watch him at home in his kitchen, cooking some of Italy's most delicious regional dishes in a new series of video recipes – just for us.

Gennaro's Slow Cook Italian

Chef Gennaro Contaldo is a passionate advocate of Italian cuisine. Growing up on the Amalfi Coast, Gennaro learnt the importance of fresh produce at an early age. Although Britain has been his home for many years, Italy retains his heart and he is committed to bringing quality Italian food to the UK.

“I may be biased, but to me there is no better food in the world than Italy. It is part of the culture and no matter where you go throughout the country you will find fresh local produce to suit everyone’s taste buds,” says Gennaro.
