Spend the next few days exploring the countryside at your leisure. Be sure to visit the southern town of Pienza in the Val d'Orcia and also the historic hill-top town of Montepulciano. Or if you wish, spend your time exploring local vineyards and wineries.

Day 7-10 : Umbria

Drive south to the neighbouring region of Umbria, stopping for lunch on route in the beautiful town of Cortona. Spend the last days of the trip exploring the Umbrian countryside and many historic towns such as, Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto and Todi. You could even fit in a visit to Lake Trasimeno.

It’s your last day in Umbria, so enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your hotel. Afterwards, make your way back to the airport in time for your flight back to the UK.

Practical Information

Flight Information

The majority of international flights arrive into Pisa airport (PSA), which is approximately 60 minutes from the centre of Florence. Direct flights to Pisa are available from Belfast, Bristol, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Luton, Manchester and Newcastle and take approximately 2 hours. Flights into Florence airport are also available to book through our Travel Centre.

Visa Information

At the current time, British citizens do not require a visa to visit Italy.

Tipping

Whilst tipping isn’t embedded into Italian culture it is always appreciated as an acknowledgement of good service. Nowadays people generally round up a bill in a bar or cafe and leave 5-10% extra on a restaurant bill. Taxi bills are usually also rounded up.
 
On guided tours/excursions, it is customary to leave a token of appreciation for the driver and guide.
 
On small group escorted tours, it is customary to leave a token of appreciation for the driver and guide at the end of the tour.
