Castelnuovo is a little town set just back from the shores of Lake Garda. It’s home to a handful of Venetian villas and pretty churches, but the big attraction here is Gardaland, Italy’s number-one theme park. It lines up rides and shows suitable for all ages, from white-knuckle log flumes and roller-coasters, to themed playgrounds and mini-trains for little ones.
Castelnuovo’s other big plus-point is its location. Fast trains whisk you to the centre of fair Verona in under 15 minutes, and the pretty towns clustered around the south of Lake Garda are also in easy reach. Make sure you save some time for Sirmione, with its lakefront castle and famous gelaterie.
